I know ebay will be ebay but the buyers on there are pretty damn stupid and obnoxious.

I've been spectating auctions for this figure and it's like they all purposely bid the hell out of them to see who'll pay the most. Like most people I saw this one guy put in $250 right off the bat. Most people either put in a bid days before and put in the most they're willing to pay (like this guy) or wait to the last day/hour to snipe bid (like I do).

Then in the next hour all these scavengers just bid the hell out of it making the price sky rocket.

BAM

$50.00
$80.00
$90.00
$101.00
$107.00
$122.00
$127.00
$135.00
$150.00
$201.00

Then finally they're at the first bidders original bid, $250 and guess what . . . there's still 5 or 6 days to go before the bid ends . . . and atleast a dozen others from other sellers.

I've seen bid wars in my time but this is just ridiculous.

I've been a member on ebay for years now and I just don't know what's going through these people's heads. Originally, you could get some pretty good deals especially if something was widely available. Here, you have have quite a few, recent Batman figures, all listed below $10 dollars and these bidders just come in and rape the hell out of the auctions.

I notice it's the same couple of bidders too (could be shills?).

I guess I just don't understand the mentality, don't people want to save a few bucks? There's plenty to go around. I mean, most of the people that win these things for $300-$400 are from the United States, do they not know that Sideshow still has them in stock?

What about the QC issues on most of them, do people even care?

Now I believe in value and I love seeing what I own in my collection skyrocket in price. But it's usually when, A, the figures are long sold out and B, when there aren't that many figures on the secondary market anymore (namely MIB). With this though there are so many MISB pieces floating around every single day, tons of figures being broken down (literally and figuratively) and a distributor still has them in stock. Yet these nut bags are ready and willing to throw down multiple bids and a couple of hundreds at a single figure. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

There's a few things to consider. How many of the buyers are international bidders who aren't able to otherwise obtain the figure from Sideshow directly?

The QC issues aren't really that bad, but it takes a LOT of balls to buy it on the secondary market knowing that the seller can enlist the no return or exchange policy.

The truth is a lot of us collectors are thrill seekers in some small way. We are die hard for some figures and it can end up being a nagging obsession until we own the desired figure. Some people sell or trade that once desirable figure after the thrill of owning it has worn off. You might be able to even chalk it up to buyer's remorse for spending such lucrative amounts on a figure.

Anyhow, my point is that we all get a little drunk with obsession sometimes and the only way to resolve it is to BUY BUY BUY. If we REALLY wanted to get psychoanalytical about all of this we could delve into our insecurities and emptiness that lies within all of us, only to constantly attempt to patch these holes with material possesions...WOAH.

Yep, I thought this too until I followed the feedback and noticed that the majority of buyers are from the United States and not international.

That's what leaves me scratching my head.

It's very noticeable

I'm not really trying to argue with you here but it's not noticeable unless you're looking for it... and even then you have to be in the right light, I don't consider this "faulty" at all.

It's more nit-picky if anything... the boots falling off out of the box is a completely different and justifiable thing to call "faulty."

I finally bit the bullet and bought this guy from Sideshow. While the price was super expensive, I knew I would ultimatly regret it if I missed out. I just hope I still enjoy the thing after it arrives. From the sound of some accounts, seems like there could be some problems.

Stay positive... I let the horror in these threads ruin my fun of receiving this Guy... mine came with nothing but a crooked kneecap and the barely noticeable forehead sheen.

I really freaking love this figure... so imposing.

Looks great!

I think the sculpt that you received also has that shiny bit that everyone has been talking about...or no?

yeah, just a tiny bit... not really that noticeable.. not sure why everyone is all amped up about it.. i'd be more worried about the boot situation.

Any chance they are not able to buy from Sideshow because they already did?

SS sell only one per costumer. Anyway I think it will be easier to:

1) Buy here in the forum.. some of the members are selling a lot cheaper than eBay.

2) Making a deal with someone from your family, or a friend who has a credit card, and buy it for you, then re-send it to your address.

True. Mine has it too. Very minor right above the eye brow and only visible from certain angles.

I missed out on the OC and despite the QC issues with this one I'm glad HT revisited this suit. And...well the Bruce wayne sculpt speaks for itself :thud:
