I was initially referring to it as the "dream sequence" as well simply because I wasn't sure what to refer to it as, even though I understood it. That Apocalypse scene though isn't actually a "dream" per se. It's happening, but at the same time it's not. It's more just a vision into the future of that 1% chance that Bruce Wayne was referring to, if it actually happened. In that sequence, we saw Darkseid's omega symbol and also the parademons. If this was an actual dream on Batman's part, how would he know what Darkseid's exact logo is and the fact that he has parademons to the point where he's able to accurately dream about it? Lois Lane in this vision was dead, Superman had gone rogue and was under Darkseid's control.

This is what Flash was time traveling to warn Bruce about. As an analogy, think of it as if Marty in BttF2 from that alternate dystopian 1985 where Biff was corrupt, Marty's mother was married to him and George McFly was dead, traveled back to the beginning of BttF to warn Marty of this happening, warning him of the "Almanac".

Remy's actually better able to explain it than I am.

In the trailers, we're all led to believe that those were just dreams cause of course, its way off base from the actual BvS storyline.
But, that series did happen...you could say, this is like X-men's days of future past, where the world is in ruin's under Darkseid's rule, with Superman under his control.

And that was Flash warning Batman. I think he says something like...am I too soon?
Cause Flash has the capacity to time travel, but he travelled too far. He was trying to warn Bruce about that 1% chance.
Cause that 1% now happened with Lois' eventual death, and Superman now going rogue.
Superman is now under Darkseid's control.
The flash sequence is a warning trying to prevent that future.
That's actually what got me to really love that sequence.
This is also one of the big reason for Batman's motivation to kill Superman...it wasnt just a dream, its a feeling.

This is why some people think, oh...he had a nightmare, so now he wants to kill superman.
No, it was more than that. You could say, after that premonition, it was now a gut feeling.

There are only two dream sequences, one only lasts a few seconds.
They're vague on purpose because they're teases, do you really not understand that?
People who do not read comics (my wife for example) understand they hint at bigger things to come and fans get a few nods.
Same thing as some of the Marvel post credit scenes.
At any rate, the dream sequences are no more than two minutes in a two and a half hour movie.

Unclear to you maybe but not to anyone who paid attention.
McNairy's character is manipulated and eventually assassinated by Luthor.
Lois's bullet proves that Luthor was also behind the attempt at framing Superman for the events in Africa.
You blame the movie because you fail to understand it.

Nope, a troll because you were only pretending to discuss the movie while carefully dancing around the issues.

Two dream sequences?! There was definitely more than that.

So everyone then? Plenty of people, even those who liked the film, had to watch it a few times to make sense of it all. More so than not, I'd go as far as to say. Where did it say he was assassinated? I don't understand the movie. I don't understand why it needed so many unnecessary scenes, subplots, vague hints at things to come, and other hindrances. It would have been a far better film with certain bits trimmed out and others added in.

Pretending to discuss the movie? Why on earth would I 'pretend' to discuss the movie? As for 'carefully dancing around' the issues, I have brought up several, citing examples and suggesting ways of improvement. I really don't know why you seem to have a problem with me talking about the film.

You are right but it is a genuine dream Wayne had not a vision related to Apokolips or possible future events, that's why I kept it separate.
We have the flying kid and mausoleum dreams which are insights into Bruce Wayne's psyche and we have the Knightmare sequence followed by the Flash's message which are visions / premonitions of Apokolips.

So more than two then?

You seemed flummoxed and you did say you didn't understand the film, so I was just trying to help you out. :dunno

I understood it on my first viewing.

I understand why you'd want to categorise them differently, but whatever you want to call them (visions, hallucinations, nightmares) they are all essentially dream sequences.

I categorize them differently because they are different. Like I said, I completely understood it on my first viewing and you seem confused, so I was only trying to help you out? :dunno

I get it. I'm just saying that it's splitting hairs.

Then you would know they're not all actual dreams and that "dream sequence" would actually be a misnomer. You did say though yourself that you didn't understand the film, so I was only trying to help you understand it being that I did.

However, if you now understand it, then great. :duff

I said I didn't understand why they chose to include certain things or leave others out. Would be a little unfair to criticise something you didn't understand, no?

So, do you not want help understanding something that you didn't understand? Would you rather just continue not understanding it? :dunno

I think something has been lost in translation here, haha.

You said that you didn't understand the film and that things were unclear to you. I was only trying to help you perhaps understand what you were seemingly confused about, SS. Would you rather just continue not understanding things that you aren't entirely clear/sure about?

I do understand the film. I just don't understand why they chose to do certain things. Having said that, it is very difficult to decipher. I know some people like that, but it isn't for the majority, myself included. The film would have been better had it been clearer and more focused. Much like AoU, it is overstuffed.

Well, you weren't sure how many actual dream scenes there were. Since you were confused about that and it was difficult to decipher for you, I was simply giving you the answer, which is two. No harm, no foul. I would say the same thing to others who are confused about it also.

Right, I get you. I couldn't have told you what it amounted to including the other 'dream' (lack of a better word) sequences off the top of my head.

I can. The scenes that were actual dreams were to help the viewer get a better understanding of Batman's psyche and current state of mind. Since he was actually dreaming them.
