While you do have a point, Harley's character and interpretation in SS was meant to scream sex and promiscuity. That was inherent to her character in the movie. The same doesn't necessarily apply to Wonder Woman's character.

And if you're concerned with her being sexy, isn't that just a matter of taste? That's totally subjective right? There are a lot of people out there who view Gal Gadot's WW as sexy without the cleavage.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think guyver1 was saying Gadot's WW isn't sexy, more that she isn't an accurate representation of the comic book character. I would disagree but life would be boring if we all saw things the same way. :lol

I hadn't really thought about it but you are right about the ambiguity of her accent. It definitely adds to the mystique and exotic nature of her character.

Is Aquaman an accurate representation of the comic book character, cause from SS statue and the BVS Movie, its seems off a bit. I don't read comics.

Lol! In all honesty, I guess the argument was going farther than I would have liked at that point. :D

And yeah, the accent is great but as soon as we hear every other Amazonian speak in the movie, I'm sure there are bound to be inconsistencies. Luckily my suspension of disbelief is pretty high ;)

Well the "perfect" representation of a Amazonian women would be without a right breast so the cleavage would be non existent

btw, you do know the one breast myth is fake. its like a fake rumor that's lasted for a long long time for some reason. But Amazons always were with 2 breasts. it was propaganda by some Greek historian 2500 years ago who tried to give the word "Amazon" a Greek meaning. the word "breast" sounds like "mazon" in Greek, but its not the word breast in Greek. it just sounds like it. And "a" infront of the Greek word for breast would mean without.

All Amazons in Greek and Roman art are with two breasts. They weren't man-haters either. They had male lovers, they had children. And they aren't just Greek myths, they are also believed from many other cultures, other Cultures wrote about them. Archeologists have found evidence of Female Warriors. Most Greek artists and historians reject the one breast myth.

Yeah i heard the one breasted thing was BS.

The issue with casting so many comic characters is that most of them are drawn in the most ideal way. A woman with a beautiful face, muscular yet curvy physic, giant ****, 6ft tall and flowing hair doesn't really exist for a live action actor. Portions of that do, there are women with those bodies but not the face to match, women with the faces but not the bodies....then of course if there IS someone that has the full package, can they act too???? thats also a component.
Looking the part is great, but if you're a terrible actor whats the point?

I can see why Gal was chosen, they opted for height over bulk with her body. While there may have been better suited actresses with a more thicker or believable frame, maybe they were too short??? Maybe standing next to Bats and Supes at 5ft tall lost all the presence WW needs?
I believe it was the test footage of Gal standing next to Ben and Henry that made Zac finally choose her, at least thats what i read. He said it was her ability to actually stand next to them and not vanish amidst the height and muscle that he liked.
If we lose **** and muscle over height and presence, i think its a fair choice. And while Gal isn't Meryl Streep in the acting department, ultimately its how she plays the role that will sell the character, and so far from what we have seen shes done a pretty great job selling the whole "warrior" angle.
Shes tall, shes pretty, and she makes for a believable action star.

well even their size has become exaggerated. in ancient greek and roman art amazons were not always these hulking women. they were different sizes and some looked fairly normal in size but the main thing is they had armor and weapons. plus i like the fact Gal was born in israel and is close to a region of the world where they may have been from. they do need to give her some kind of pants though. amazon women would have had some kind of legging fabrics since they rode horses and they fought. but i know WW costume is mainly for visual appeal. and gal has been very open about her not needing to cover up. looks like some of the Amazons in the WW film will have more full armor which is cool :)

Gal is an excellent actress, shes done more dramatic roles in Israeli films that were great. plus shes trained military and athletic and a big advocate for human rights. shes really a perfect WW. i wouldnt want anyone else.

:lol you guys are hilarious, when I opened the discussion I guess I worded " Missing Cleavage " the wrong way because this topic went way off the radar.

I didn't even know literally that WW was supposed to have an extra breast or even one breast :horror

What I meant is that I wished Gal had a tad bigger breasts to fit the profile of WW more to the comics. But I also agree I think they went for height to match crazy built Affleck's height.

I guess it's hard to find a an actress that can stand about 5"10 ish that isn't built like a runway model unfortunately.

I guess height with voluptuousness are so rare in female actresses that can pull off a major role in films in Hollywood nowadays.

I do think that Snyder was also looking for a natural brunette as well as crazy as it sounds.

I think some people on this thread are confusing Wonder Woman with Power Girl. As if Wonder Woman having large breasts is some sort of essential element of the character's design. Wonder Woman is and always has been a beautiful dark-haired warrior--and that's it. Within those parameters her body shape has been left up to the interpretation of the artists for 70 years now.

Wonder Woman's shoulders are more integral to her look than her breasts. Those are covered by a breastplate anyway so it doesn't really matter what size they are. That's the biggest issue with Gal Gadot. She doesn't feel physically imposing whatsoever, nor does it seem she's been allowed to suitably bulk up for the role like the others were.

Theres nothing in large shoulders that implies any strength.
I am cool with her looking feminine and still being able to kick butt.
It's a leap of faith. Can you believe superman can fly? Then believing Gal Gadot can be Wonder Woman should be a walk in the park.

:exactly: She was completely convincing in the final battle scenes. Certainly not a big leap of faith to see her as that beautiful Amazonian warrior. I'm sure being a real life soldier when she was younger prepared her well for the role. As for her ability as an actress, I'll wait till has she more than a cameo to judge, but I liked her brief scenes with Bruce as Diana.

Superman doesn't have to be muscle bound to convey strength or imperviousness. He does that just by being close to our yellow sun. He wouldn't even need muscles at all to be super strong but we have chosen to accept him that way cause it makes him look more imposing.

Wonder Woman is the same way. Her powers are not in her muscles they just are. She can fly, she's super strong, fast, and she's a bad ass fighter. She doesn't need to be bulked up for her powers but it does help to convey a sense of how strong she is if she is more toned. I like Gal and have no problems with how this universe is portraying her.

:exactly:

Cavill is 6'0-6'1 while Superman's "official" height is usually listed at about 6'4".

I recall reading somewhere also that Cavill's weight for MoS was 195lbs. Not sure how true that is, but regardless, the point is that Superman's "official" weight is usually listed at about 225lbs.

I had no problem believing that Cavill was Superman in the films.

And for the record, before this starts a debate for other people on how "Superman-esque" his disposition is, the point of this post was purely from a physical statistics standpoint. :lol

Then why have Henry Cavill add muscle mass at all? Why can't Superman be slender and skinny? Do you think it would it look right? The muscle and proportions add more credence to their physical abilities. Part of why you need muscle is you at least need the likes of Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck to look like they could kick any viewers ass. I think its a case of whats good for the goose is good for the gander, at least in my eyes.

For me, at least, the golden era in comics of Wonder Woman was with George Perez. Wonder Woman needed an update at that time and his interpretation of her was the perfect look, and not much has changed since. Gal Gadot has the face, hair and eyebrows which are so key to the look Wonder Woman has. The suit she wears gives her the rest of the look, so there's not much need for her to have the same body Lynda Carter did in the 70s because the current suit is more like leather armor. Gadot evokes the Perez Wonder Woman in many ways, I think, as well as the origin story from that time, while having just enough of the contemporary design elements. She represents both the current and the traditional Wonder Woman which may end up making this version of the character timeless. She was easily the best part part of Batman vs. Superman and based on the trailers, the Wonder Woman movie could end up being the best DC superhero movie since Nolan's Batman films.

Supergirl is skinny and rarely ever drawn with any muscle definition at all. Nobody ever complains about her.
