yeah ht does that.

just saying if one were to only get 1 and want to represent the final third of the movie, i say it would be this because of the damn shield.

be cheaper to buy the extra faceplate than a shield from a sold out ex version.

I agree with you. If I had to pick one to represent the final third of the film it would also be the BV one because of the shield plus dirty costume.

I think how you intend to pose him plays a role as well. If we strictly talking a figure to represent post-airport, battling version. If you're looking for a figure to represent the movie itself (normal mouth) OR plan to pose Cap and IM actually fighting (angry mouth), then regular.

At the very least you'd need the regular headsculpt and angry mouth to complete a final battle look. Otherwise, you kind of have pieces of everything between the 2.

This Battle version should be missing the A logo on his shoulder.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

yeah. not sure how easy they are to remove ourselves. looks like its just a pasted decal?

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Cap's shield should have the scratches for the majority of the film, if there are scenes during the fight with Iron Man where you can't see the scratches, then it is an error. It is clearly scratched before the fight and afterwards. The BV shield is needed for it to be more accurate I think.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

I've seen it twice and I can't recall a point in the movie where the scratches weren't visible after BP scratched it. And I was paying pretty close attention the 2nd time.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Yeah, I just saw it yesterday and and as far as I could see the shield always had scratches on it after the airport scene.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

One thing I noticed on a second viewing is you can see the marks on the shoulder pads from where the Avengers logo used to be after the first act. It's subtle, but it's there.

So if we manually remove the logo ourselves and it leaves a mark, it'll be screen accurate.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Interesting. I'll have to see it again. I didn't notice the lack of the Avengers logo on his suit.

At what point of the movie does the avengers patch disappear?

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

I think during Romania is when it first goes away.

Yeah, I kinda figured it disappears off his uniform between when Him/Bucky/Sam/T'Challa get arrested and when Sharon brings them the gear, but I forgot to look for that.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Would've been nice to actually see him rip it off. A quick visual of that would've gone a long way in showing the repercussions of the conflict without Cap having to say a word.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Correct the Avengers patch is first removed at Bucharest, and yep there's some shots in Bucky's apartment where you can see some light fading where the patch was. Also I thought the scratches on the shield were pretty obvious in the finale, it's pretty much in your face in the final shot of the shield.

Yup, the scratches are right there :lol Not easy to miss.

The patch is missing when he is in Bucky's apartment in Bucharest. The implication is that since the act of Cap going after Bucky is unsanctioned, he removes the patch since he is not acting as an Avenger.

Regular figure:

-normal mouth: standard look
-angry mouth: scene specific - final battle
-shield: pre-BP

BV:

-headsculpt: standard look
-shield: post-BP
-dirty costume: post-Crossbones/post-chase/post-airport (pick one)
-base: irrelevant

Is it not okay to assume that each figure might contain accessories/features from differing periods of the movie?

I would concur with this. It seems the best CW Cap figure would be mixing and matching parts from both of the figures. Regular version with the BD shield, BV with the regular version sculpt, BV version with the clean shield. However you want to go about it.

The two most sought after pieces from both of these figures seem to be the BD shield and the interchangeable face piece sculpt.

I agree with you. If I had to pick one to represent the final third of the film it would also be the BV one because of the shield plus dirty costume.

I also agree here. This is part of the reason why I personally am sticking with the regular version. I tend to not be drawn towards BD figures because they are generally intended to represent a specific point in the film, whereas clean/regular versions of a figure generally tend to represent a film as an aggregate whole.

yeah ht does that.

I get what you're trying to say. However, I do believe that when HT designed the regular version, they were using the final fight scene as their reference material. Like I said though, in the trailers when it first showed that scene of the three fighting (which is probably what they went off of) you weren't necessarily able to tell that the shield had a claw mark on it. HT also might have figured that not everyone will want a shield with a claw mark right down the middle of it and/or knew they were going to release the BV, so if you want the clawed shield you have to get that version and if you want the more accurate sculpt for the final scene, you have to get the regular version.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

well hopefully one of y'alls WL converts as I just canceled my PO of this after seeing the movie.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

The name seems to reference which is which as well. One is from a battle one is not. The final scene is a fight/brawl, not a battle. The airport scene is called a battle.

As I said, neither perfectly matches, which is a business choice, but they both more closely match one scene.
