I knew they we're going to pull this crap.:gah:

IGN:We can't say we're surprised about this, but Captain America: The First Avenger isn't going to be called Captain America when its released in some international markets later this year.

Citing "Marvel Studios insiders," The Los Angeles Times reports that the Marvel-Paramount movie will be released as simply The First Avenger in Russia, South Korea and the Ukraine.

"Those involved in the decision are being careful to frame the move as a matter of brand management and consumer awareness and not as a decision tilted by cultural or political winds, " according to the paper. "In private, Marvel insiders said that early on in the project's planning there was talk that the title might need to be changed in numerous international markets but that there was a 'pleasant surprise' — the brand recognition of the comic-book superhero was so strong that it overrode those considerations in many places. That was not the case in Russia, South Korea and the Ukraine."

Director Joe Johnston told the Times that in his film Steve Rogers "wants to serve his country, but he's not this sort of jingoistic American flag-waver. ... It's an international cast and an international story. It's about what makes America great and what make the rest of the world great too."

In otherword...GLOBALISM

Does the title in Russia really matter? Movies are renamed for other countries all the time. In China "Kindergarten Cop" was called "Devil King of Children."

:lol
Devil King of Children....:nana:

maybe the people who changed the name only saw a few seconds of the trailer... the chinese are busy people.

Seems to me that Captain America was invented as a salute to American patriotism in the first place. Who knew he would become so popular? Now that he's become popular, they are going to de Americanize him? Nonsense. By changing Captain America's name, it seems to me that they are seeking profits at the expense of artistic integrity.

Lets make a movie about Captain American but lets make him not American, and not fight nazis. And lets make his outfit the colors of Uruguay. I for one am sick of people being ______s when it comes to history and being politically correct. Offend some people, like those who hate America but can't wait to see our ____ing movies or people who like Nazis, how ____ing horrible to offend them a bit. Sorry we entered WW2 Russia, you guys had it covered.

His name is Captain America, its like renaming the Rocketeer because you don't want to offend the families of those who died in the Challenger explosion.

But he does!!! His costume is the flag!!! :lol!!!
I really don't care anyways... just make a good movie and I'm in...

Captain America is going to bring those poor third world kids democracy if he has to kill every single one of them.

If there was a captain china or russia you can be damn sure they wouldn't change the name...way too many people in america are spineless these days

I see in the Movies/TV Captain America thread that there won't be any mention of Nazis in the film and the bad guys will be generic German soldiers and members of Hydra. Has anyone from the studio commented as to why that is? Is it because of the inevitable marketing blitz and they don't want to catch heat for Nazi toys lining the toy aisles at Target and Toys R Us?
