Re: Speculation : Hot Toys Disney+ Figures "The Mandalorian" + "Cassian" + "Kenobi"
That escalated quickly...
I would just simply refer to Boba as a practical bounty hunter trying to make his way into the universe. And most of the time, crime syndicate like the Hutts or the Empire pay exceptionally well.
Yes it did.
I'm not arguing about his personal code or his pragmatism.
If you go work for a Mexican Drug Cartel today, when you could have easily done something else, what does that say about you? While you're hanging out at a nice hacienda with a bunch of violent criminals, the syndicate boss gets publicly rebuffed by a woman he's most likely enslaved and made to dance for him. So he feeds her to his pet crocodile. You've just delivered a smuggler that owed him money. Washed your hands of it, no matter that said smuggler will likely be tortured and killed. You're gonna hang out a while, see a live band, have a few drinks, see if there's more business to be had. Maybe next week you're gonna go work for a genocidal warlord in a neighbouring country, to track down a pesky rebel he's got some kind of obscure beef with.
You take deals and promises seriously, by the way. You have a 'personal code of honour'.
Are you a bad guy?
Hannibal was at worst an antihero. I say that because many if not most of those he killed were criminals with histories of truly heinous acts. If they died, no problem. One could almost say Lecter was performing a public service, altho admittedly that takes the analogy a bit far.
You're quite forgiving of the said psychopath. The same one that strung up a cop and disemboweled him, cut another one's head open and ate his brains in front of him, and cut a presumably innocent and law-abiding dude's face off to escape a facility he was being held in? The one that cut the femoral artery of a random person he noticed following him and quietly left to die? The one who was happy to feed human brains to a child on a plane?
It's been years since I saw those films so tell me if I'm wrong about that.
(...) So if you decide to stiff your mortgage holder, its ok because your bank is not in a position to enforce the law? Nah. They just call in those who do.
It's not okay to stiff your mortgage holder, but this is not what we're discussing and never has been. Look at the scenario and the question I posed to DarkChocobi above. And in the case of Boba Fett, it's not hypothetical. It's literally a day in the life.
So was Solo. He just got a pass because of his boyish charm and devil-may-care attitude. Lets be honest here.
But this is not about Solo, whom I have nonetheless labeled as a drug runner and a thief, who also worked for a Vile Gangster and is a casual killer to boot, although it can be argued we haven't seen him kill anyone other than vile criminals and fascist soldiers.
My point is code or no code, regardless of how he sees himself, Boba Fett is evil.
Solo is an interesting point. He at least *was* evil to a degree in ANH. Whether or not you can come back from various degrees of evildoing is a philosophical discussion even further outside the scope of what's already gone wildly off-topic (sorry guys!) ... Boba Fett's day-in-the-life as sketched out above remains cut and dry.
Star Wars is capable of 'redeeming' Vader so it's possible that's what's planned for Boba Fett.
