I seriously doubt HT making any figure Sideshow hasn't made first, aside from Chewie. Sideshow is perfectly able to make a Hoth Han of their own. No need for HT to do it. Plus it would be the worst version of Han for HT to waste their shot on.

So HT is only going to remake figures Sideshow has already done? That doesn't make sense.

^^Nothing yet.

That's what I would want, as well--the Hoth/Bespin 2-in-1 Han. Sideshow makes very good 1/6th scale figures of course, but HT is the best. X factor is the sculpt. So far, HT is 0-1 doing Ford. Sideshow's had decent sculpts, but bad paint that essentially negates the fact that the sculpts were pretty good (though I've seen a few good Storm Troop Han factory paint jobs, it wasn't consistent).

Besides, Sideshow's had 3 different shots at Han already. I would be very interested in see what HT came up with.

Exactly nobody is biting on just a Hoth Han. They want to stretch it to a 2-in-1 with Bespin Han. Given the choice I really don't think most people would want HT's one and only Han to be Hoth Han. Bespin sure, since he doubles as Jabba's palace Han at the least. Throw in a vest and trench and you get Endor Han. But I think Hoth versions are a lot further down on people's lists than their other looks.

Since it's gonna be DX, I think the chances are better than even that they'll try to do more than one outfit if possible no matter who they go with. And with a character like Solo it's easy of course.

Agreed. A key selling point. I don't see why they wouldn't have had it lit up in the display at SDCC.

Gotta disagree on this one, Nam. Just because it doesn't light up at the reveal doesn't mean they didn't show it because it won't have that feature. Just look at the Burton Batmobile prototype. It didn't have working lights yet, and, I'd think that the R&D involved in making something as small as a 1/6 lightsaber glow would be even more difficult to get ready than the electronics for something as massive as the Batmobile.

Sure it does. Why would Sideshow let them make stuff they haven't done yet? The whole point of Sideshow letting HT make DX figures in the first place is to redo some of the early and iconic figures they tackled early on in the line. If Hot Toys makes a Jedi Vader before Sideshow, do you think many are going to buy a Sideshow version then? SW is one of Sideshow's last 1:6 lines. They aren't going to just hand it over to HT without strings attached.

I think Chewie is the only previously un-released figure they'd let HT make since they still are clueless on how to do him right.

I think a 3-in-1 is perfectly possible with Han. Give him the vest and blue pants for ANH, brown pants and jacket for Bespin ESB, and throw in an Endor Trench coat and you have Endor Han for RoTJ. Just mix and match the parts as needed and you have all three films done in one box. :dunno

So Sideshow will give us a version of either Hoth Han or Hoth Luke, then HT will remake it with better sculpts and paint apps that that people will actually want. Sounds good! :yess:

I think you're wrong BM. Seems to me, SSCs has steadily been moving OUT the 1/6th market for awhile now.

That's not to say they are done with SWs, but there's no evidence to suggest they've put any restraints on HTs either. HTs has had their eye on the SWs license for years and who knows what type of deal the two companies have reached.

Who knows, maybe we've seen the last of what SSCs will offer and the future of SWs 1/6 lies with HTs?

Until this SDCC I would have agreed with you. But SDCC showed SSC's refocus on 1:6. Tons of new stuff from Droids to huge Environements. They aren't leaving 1:6 anytime soon now.

I hear ya, but realistically, they only showed 4 new figs that hadn't been already announced AND shown prior to SDCC:

Repainted clones (not really new cause they were just repaints)
Grevious
Gree
IG-88
Boba

I don't count the environments as I really think SSCs might put down 1/6 SW figures and just provide dio support to HTs. Afterall, that's where SSCs strong suit is and 1/6 figs is HTs strong suit. :huh

BM is 110% correct. They are not moving out of the 1:6th and if anything will be moving back in a bit stronger especially once the DC license gets off the ground.

But not a single human figure. Clones excluded.

Zaran and Rock n Roll aren't human characters? I know they're GI Joe but still human.

Boba Fett isn't human either huh? Sure a clone technically. But he's still human and not just a repainted variant. And as Josh mentioned, they are going to be doing DC 1:6 scaled figures. If anything they've only recommitted themselves to 1:6 this year rather than stepping away like a few years ago. They're showing they aren't afraid to go toe to toe with HT anymore, nor afraid to even team up or lease things out to them (DX Luke).

I'm talking about human figures in the SW line. I think the Emperor was the last, and he was announced in 2009.

Besides, Joes aren't based on real people. The sculpts look great, but there's nothing to compare them to.

And Boba Fett doesn't have a human sculpt... unless I missed that somewhere.

Sure like the one DC license product they produced for SDCC was a great joker....WAIT....that was another statue. Wam, wam waaaaammmm.

They told us at comic-con they are going to be doing 1:6th figures from DC along with their SW and Joe stuff. So you're wrong plain and simple.

No, but they've done plenty of Clone sculpts the last year. Even a brand new one for Gree at SDCC. He's got a real likeness to be compaired to :dunno

And I wouldn't be surprised if the Dead return to 1:6 during Spook. I think they've let the line cool enough and realized 3 or 4 variants aren't wanted.
