Really interesting read. mrore or less confirmed what i was expecting

ONLY DX Figures, sideshow does the "regular release" versions
1-2 figures a Year
ONLY going to do figures sideshow has already done, has no plans to do, or is a LONG WAY OUT from doing themselves

also,
7. As we have seen the prototype of the Luke collectible figure at Ani-Com, we would like to know if the set includes two bodies or just one body with interchangeable costume.

This collectible figure actually contains two newly developed head sculpts with Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS), two figure bodies, and two styles of specially made costume. The set also comes with a specially made light-up stand with Cloud City scene and a stand that can be hung on the wall. That is - one set comprises two DX figures and stands.

additionaly, hot toys on light-up lightsabers
We will not consider producing the light saber at this moment. We have tried but the technique is not developed very well yet. The brightness with LED lighting is not enough, while the use of button cell will enlarge the proportion of the saber and it is not easy to pass through the safety test if we use strong battery and brightness. Therefore, we have put our efforts on the head sculpts, shoes and accessories. Some fans may have noted that there is slight difference of Luke’s appearance at different times, but we are sure that this is the most real-like one in the market. This project is completed from my perspective as a Star Wars fan, and I hope that this is the collectible figure that will be satisfied by collectors and myself.

I'd take 1-2 HT chore character releases per year any day ($450 per year) than 10-12 throw away character or clones from sideshow per year ($1000 plus per year).

Everything was ace until the light saber part.

NO light saber?!

Seriously wtf? Ain't a Luke if he ain't got no light saber. That's almost like Cap without his shield :huh

Anyone see the Light up Sabers coming from Hasbro? I dont' know how they work (ie where the power source is) but they look pretty impressive from the images on RS:

light-up sabers usually look good [only] from that angle on cam :dunno

By what HT said about which figures they'll most likely do, i think they'll make Starkiller soon after Luke here

Sure, if you don't mind your figures holding 1:18 Fleshlights. :lol

Not sure if I get the concern... but my idea is if it can look a bit odd and oversized in 1:18 then in 1/6 it could probably be pulled off.

I don't need a light up lightsaber, but I think this demonstrates it could be done and look pretty good. I'd be fine with a an extra saber that is permanently attached to a hand in order to work.

I think that lightsaber would even bee too big in 1:6, given the head of a lightsaber is about the size of a 1:18 hand. Plus, I bet that whole arm holds the components for the saber though, and when you consider Hasbro will probably want at least $12 for him and he'll be produced in the millions to compensate, it really doesn't seem reasonable on a HT figure.

with a second saber, Qui Gon could be a big help at the space port helping out on the runway.

Gotcha, good point. I thought I'd seen an image of the figure the package and the unlit blade looked fairly normal. But now I see it was a different version of Qui Gonn with a standard plastic blade.

But, still the blade does light up nicely and has a consistent glow. If that could be replicated effectively in 1/6 I'd be happy, but other than that no interest.

Absolutely do not need or care about light up sabers. Its just one more thing for Hot Toys to jack up the price some more for you something I will maybe use once. Just like the lights on Iron Man, Dallas & Kane or the T-800 endo. Flick em on once and that's it. Cool for about five minutes, the meh.

Its also one more thing to go wrong. Sometimes simple is better.
