That's pretty damn cool, Rory.

I don't think I have anything original from Star Wars OT except a frame from a 70mm print of the opening shot... and an original screenplay from Fox that probably isn't really original.

That's a grail piece! Not sure you should even keep it out, exposed to sun and elements.

You know these two figures actually make for pretty awesome "bookends" to a 1980's themed display. Two great icons, one from the first year of the decade, one from the last.

Wow, didn't look at it that way. That's a good point. 1980 and 1989.

random question. does anyone know how long it took the superman exclusive to sell out? i might wanna buy another luke exclusive over the weekend, but dont want it to sell out before i have the chance.

EX is still up, I'm surprised given then price. I predicted this costing more and having less accessories, but I was pleasantly surprised. My only wish now is that HT put these figures on muscle bodies. 300 for 2 figure, weathervane, EX Luke, and a butt load of accessories I don't know I think its a good price. But then again my love for Star Wars my have clouded my judgment.

I'm pretty sure HT is making the figures based on a pre-order window... not limiting themselves to a set editions size. The last few figures with an exlclusive option have been available for a long ass time.

About how long would you say? Just trying to judge if i have some time to score another.

I know you would want the muscle body so you can do the Dagobah Luke in tanktop, but I really hate how it limits the articulation on the elbows and shoulders. HT really has to do something to bring more articulation to the muscle arms.

Besides, wouldn't the muscle body be too beefy for Luke? MH was fit for ESB, but he was still very lean.

Taking it one step further let me try and think of the definitive figure for each year of the 80's:

1980: HT Bespin Luke/SSC Boba Fett
1981: HT Raiders Indy DX
1982: SSC Commando Snake Eyes (not yet previewed)
1983: SSC Emperor Palpatine/Jabba
1984: HT Tech Noir Terminator
1985: HT Marty McFly?
1986: HT Hicks/Ripley w/Power Loader
1987: HT Predator/Robocop
1988: Medicom Kaneda w/bike
1989: HT Keaton Batman/Nicholson Joker

Interesting list. Though 1982 should be Deckard, and 1985. . .should be Flint :panic:

also, unfortunately, the HT Indy is far from iconic or definitive IMO.

Yep, great list.

I don't know about you guys but I really like that cut/wound on the cheek bone. It looks really realistic.

This figure release is really poorly handled. While I understand they want to sell both figures, forcing you to get them both is ridiculous. I would love to have one Luke figure for half this price, but paying $300 for two figures that are 90% the same is pretty silly. At least with Bruce Lee it was not only significantly cheaper even with the exclusive, but that was two completely different outfits.

As for the antenna, I am sure it will make for an awesome display but finding the room for it ends up making it mostly a novelty. Then again, almost every Hot Toys DX release is an overpriced novelty that could do without all the gimmicks, especially PERS, which always makes the sculpt look worse.

Eh, I think this sounds a little too whiny. I mean I get it, but no one is FORCEing your hand to buy this. I do agree though, the PERS has got to go. Works well on the Batman figures though.

I can't order until the end of the month but if the EX goes then I'll just WL, I'm certain they'll be conversions left and right on this. I'd love to be able to stick the antenna on the underside of a shelf and have it displayed that way.
