$180 for a simple luke is fine to me. one tt body with tons more accessories and change-o-cloth for $220-250 is fine to me also(got bat/joker 89 on po). but here, ht wants to charge us $300 by essentially forcing on us a 2nd tt body. i find that to be a sneaky move on ht part. i'm surprised not more people here see it that way, but instead feel we should be grateful that ht doesnt charge us $350.
I see where you're coming from, because we've seen something like the T-1000, which is essentially 2 complete figures minus one body, for around $150. But then, we see something like the T1 T-800, which is one figure with 2 heads, go for near $200. So HT's prices are really all over the place. DX Lee w/extra body was a little over $200, but the regular was around $200 itself, and that is without HT having to pay a fee to Sideshow and Lucasfilm. DX Batman is $230ish, which is very pricey for one figure but he has a fancy rubber suit. Someone recently posted that a Iron Man figure costs HT $35 or so to produce, and we all know about HT's CEO living in a multi-million $ mansion, so from that angle, yes, they are making nice profits on these things no matter what they charge.
But I'm thinking of it this way--if HT released "clean" and "battle damaged" Luke separately, with the googly eyes, they would no doubt cost $180ish or so each, at least. Possibly more, given that the Star Wars license is gonna make this pricier than figures from other licenses, holding all other things constant. By including 2 figures in the same package, this is a good deal relative to what it could be. And many of us are pretty big Empire/Star Wars/Luke fans who want both.
In any case, if $180 is acceptable to you for one of the figures, buy this figure and re-sell the one you don't want plus the fancy stand. I'm sure you can easily get $150+ (more depending on how long you wait to sell).
