You might need glasses, or maybe you havent seen ESB enough times? The BD sculpt is PERFECT. Theres nothing wrong with this. if anything they have taken away some of the bruises/blood from the bd sculpt. :lecture

I have seen the movies a million times, the bd headsculpt looks ok. I was talking about the non-bd headsculpt. Maybe you need glasses?

It seems like we can never agree on anything until we have in hand pics or someone says "it looks way different than in the pictures".

I think it looks good.

If they do change it at this point, which I seriously doubt, it will be an improvement on an already good sculpt. If they don't change it at all ill be happy with my purchase and I will buy at least 2 non BD or clean heads that you guys don't want.

Let me know. Whole fig or just body and head.

It's not good at all, sure it looks better than all previous luke headsculpts but it's still not luke. I could never have told that this was supposed to be luke skywalker if I had just seen the photos of the head. At least with the indiana jones headsculpt it looked a bit like harrison ford.

I'm saying that you're not buying a solitary head, so you're not going to be stuck without identifiers beyond a precise semblance of the actor. Saying you wouldn't know it was Luke Skywalker if all you had was the head is meaningless if everyone is buying a complete figure.

If you're trying to make a case for why the headsculpt has to be perfect, that's not it. We all know it's Luke Skywalker. That fact is unmistakable, even if his face isn't 1:1 accurate.

I don't see the point in buying a figure if the headsculpt is inaccurate, no matter how good everything else is (clothes, weapons etc), just like with the indiana jones dx figure. I guess people buy these figures for different reasons, some might want to play with them. We know it's supposed to be Luke Skywalker because it says so, but it doesn't look like him. I think it's just ignorant to say it's spot on. I'm sure HT will fix it.

It's not spot on (and I think it's ignorant to think people think it looks exactly like Mark Hamill) but it's still obviously a Luke Skywalker figure, it's still obviously the best one ever made, and the likeness to Hamill is still extremely high (which would be much more obvious if the eyes weren't PERS).

Well, read through this thread and you will see that people actually say so. I can accept that it looks nice but not in the sense that it resembles Mark Hamill. And I agree, the PERS kinda ruin it.

I think it's ignorant to expect a spot on likeness in an action figure sculpt. Sure we've seen some close ones, but "spot on" is impossible.

I reckon it's all a matter of perception, anyway. I think both sculpts look fine for what we're paying.

Why is that? Sure, there will never be a 100% accurate resemblance on such a small scale. But it could at least resemble him to the point that if you saw the headsculpt only you would know it was supposed to look like Mark Hamill. I don't think this resemblance is good for the money we are paying. These aren't 60 dollar neca figures but 150-300 usd Hot Toys figures. I don't like that people accept that sculpt as okay and praise Hot Toys. HT will just milk it and later in a few years from now release a new improved 2.0 version with great resemblance.

Anyone who thinks the non-bd headsculpt looks like mark hamill must be kidding. I mean seriosuly! That headsculpt is just as bad as the indiana jones headsculpt, innacurate as hell.

I disagree.

I think it looks very much Like Luke.

It's very much a luke skywalker (concept arts, paintings etc), only 50% Hamill though.

..but im sure Hot Toys is already in the process of changing the sculpt, just like what
happend with Supes, Jack and Nicklaus Joker. By time of release, this would be a badass
figure with 99.9% likeness to Hamill :yess:

[though by then i would be paying top dollar to get this :lol]

So should I post that I like it every time someone says they don't so there are more yahs than nahs percentage wise?

All I see is a vast majority of people who complain about something they actually think they have control over when in reality they don't.

I get voicing opinions, but if someone thinks this doesn't look like Luke at all is blind.

:exactly: This is the best Luke figure there is

I don't know. HT has knocked it out of the park with some of their sculpts like Aldo Raine, the Godfather, and the T1 T-800 in my opinion. So I wouldn't say it is "ignorant" to hope that we could get something very close to the real deal. And with this figure, I think we're a bit away from that on the PERS heads, very likely due to the damned useless PERS itself (ex. head seems to have the same sculpt but with static, painted eyes, and looks much better to me).

:lol this is turning into the Indy thread!
Well, when HT misses the mark with a sculpt in the eyes of a large chunk of collectors, and when you're talking about an iconic movie character like Indiana Jones or Luke Skywalker that many folks want on their shelves, I think that's to be expected.

Personally, I think it's one of HT's best figures, clean and BD. And, yep, if I just saw the head I would know who it was supposed to be. Who the hell else does it look like (waits for someone else to say 'some random guy')? Not sure what people are expecting. I get some of the criticism on the Indy DX, but for my money, they captured a good deal of Hamill even in the clean sculpt. If they make additional tweaks to get even closer, great. If not, I'm OK with it. There's nothing available now in the same league and there won't be another Bespin Luke iteration for years and years.

I am happy enough with both sculpts to do something I have never done before- pre-order. I usually wait for figure reviews after it comes out and it is in hand.

With all the talk about the possibility of Hot Toys tweaking the sculpt I am just worried that it might not look as good if the change it.

Of course I don't mind improvements, but I per-ordered based on what the proto-type looks like.

How often does it ever happen that tweaks and changes just make things worse?
