I think the PF looks more like ROTJ Luke then the HT looks like ESB Luke, however HT has more detail and is the better sculpt

Yeah, Jedi Luke has a great likeness. And for good reason--it was done by master sculptor Trevor Grove. Far superior to the HT version IMO, though you guys are right about the paint apps.

It's not just the paint aps. It's the skin texture as well. These newer head sculpts from HT are more detailed in every way than anything I've ever seen.

The head for PF Luke is the best ROTJ sculpt out until HT decides to take a crack at it.

The main issue to my mind really is paint apps. Sideshow is so sloppy oftentimes. Yes, HT has texture which is nice, but they can sometimes overdo it, with texture that is too extreme and unrealistic. And great paint work can make a sculpt without much texture look great. But having texture on a crap sculpt (such as HT Indy) isn't really gonna help much.

Let's hope Luke doesn't suffer the same soft sculpt issue which has almost ruined a lot of HT releases this year. Capt America, Gordon, hawkeye, Sam Jackson, red skull all lost a load of sculpted detail and look quite plastic & soft. Hoping for something better cause it's a DX.

No, there has been a change in manufacting the headscpts recently. It's been widely commented on. There has been a soft rounded look to a lot of HTs recent head sculpts. Something in the moulding process. Hugo weaving was a prime example as was Nick Fury, head over to the hawkeye thread to see the conversation. I know OMG was pretty shocked by the loss of detail on Fury's sculpt. I have the rest of them myself and I can see there is a new "look" to recent HT sculpts, and it's not good IMO. Compare Sparrow to Rescue Capt and you will see it immediately.

Epic yes! Supes.. Well ya his HS is awesome but that figure as a whole? Personally I hope this DX is more jaw dopping than the DX Sparrow! I've already moved on from my Supes. He got a new home.

If this release had been Han rather than Luke it wouldn't take much thinking about.

I have Sideshow's Boba, Lando, Stormtrooper and a Hasbro R2, so Bespin Luke would be a natural addition.

It's pretty good value for two complete PERS figures, though I doubt I'd use the vane.

I think that, in general, everyone's standards have gotten ridiculously high.

This was Hot Toys' Robert Downey Jr. sculpt just a few years ago:
