Anyone know offhand if this is precedented with HT releases? I have not followed any other HT release this closely, so I might be wrong, but seems there's generally production pics by this point?

9 days out from what? Release, delivery, final approval, National Boss Day, what?

It's not the photographic skills in question, it's the prevailing conditions (eg. light and shadow) that can really throw off a shot. For instance, the skin tones are so out of whack with HT's usual efforts that it has to be a lighting issue (or else that's not the final figure).

So what if my Detolf disperses light like this professional (note!) display shop.

" Don't worry mate, if you stand over here and line your eye's up with his crotch area, now squint a little and hold your ear lobe.....you see it?"
