Herp derp. it's a toy. dosn't matter if it cost 1$, or 1 MILLION dollars.

Just an expensive one.

Some people feel the need to tell themselves they're "not spending "that kind" of money on toys. they would be fools/immature/whatever " if they did.

Expensive cars are toys.
Boats are toys.
Firearms CAN be viewed as toys, albeit very dangerous ones.

A toy is anything you obtain to bring yourself amusement.

Stop deluding yourselves.

You're right, but in my case it's not about that. A toy is something that a child plays with and a collectible is something that an adult admires. You can look at it anyway you like, but I don't buy these figures to play with them.

Doll - a small replica of a person

toy - a copy that reproduces a person or thing in greatly reduced size

toy - an artifact designed to be played with

toy - a device regarded as providing amusement

collectable - things considered to be worth collecting (not necessarily valuable or antique)

Anything I sit on is a chair. Anything I play with is a toy.

Sorry, but to attempt to quantify what a "toy" is misses the point.

You're using the word toy in the widest sense possible if you include boats and cars. You might also include paintings, furniture, and clothing at that point...

Actually, I'd categorize paintings and furniture as accessories. at this point, your living space becomes your toy.

as for clothing, it depends. yes, some is necessary, but at a certain point, an excessive wardrobe is little more than a toy itself.

Then your missing out. You've got to take them out of the box to actually enjoy it.

Redressing, futzing, customizing, posing the figure, setting up your display cabinets, taking photos, etc?

All that is play. Just mildly sophisticated play, as opposed to a children's "smash em together and say pow" type of play.

What is your point? To anyone outside this board and community they are dolls toys or useless pieces of plastic. Some of them are as much as a car payment! Yes it's a hobby and yes we all love it but call it what it is. Don't try to justify it to yourself because your ashamed of telling people what you like. Embrace it proudly without fear!

I admire those who says that collect toys.
yes, they are expensive, with a lot of detail, and really ****** amazing but they are toys. I like to see that some one says that he actualy plays with they toys, and I think every one of us do it just as lerath says so.
and I'm sure that everyone of us just feel like a "child with a new toy" when you are opening the box.
so say it, "I collect toys, I collect dolls, etc, etc" you should not be ashamed, cause every single people that have seen my collection, just want to grab everything and play with it :panic:
