Yeah. The only problem is that the sculpt ain't Jedi Luke.
Is there any documentation that proves SSC is leasing the 1:6 from Hasbro? I mean, SSC figures are already on the cheap side financially, I can't see SSC paying Hasbro royalties on top of that.
Yup, as suspected, the Sideshow costume looks better on him than the Medi.
Really wish I hadn't sold my Jedi Luke. That looks fantastic. Face is close enough to Jedi for me.
Yes it was in their original press release. Its not speculation. Its fact.
Ordered Nov 2011 and still no shipping notice!
Is it because I paid with flex?
Yep, I agree with the comments that the sculpt just ain't Jedi Luke. I can't wait for HT to do theirs. For now, as is, I think he looks better than SS's Jedi Luke so he'll be taking his place.
Was that back in '05 when Hasbro gave up the license? I still find it hard to believe that it's lasted that long.
I know the license gets re-upped for a long time, like the Lego one just did. But why would SSC really feel that strongly about the Star Wars 1:6 scale when Hasbro was doing so poorly with it? The last year Hasbro had it was '05 and they released, what, like four figures that just did ok. Why would SSC pay Hasbro to pick-up something that was seemingly a failure? Sure, SSC made it great with their run at it, but I don't buy that they're still paying Hasbro.
Where are most picking up a 1/6 R2?

Funny how people choose to believe what they want.
Hasbro felt it wasn't profitable enough, Sideshow knew that they could make it profitable by raising the quality appealing more to a niche collector market.
Hasbro gets first right to renew, as a matter of fact, they are planning on getting back into 12" figures with something more like what Gentle Giant is currently doing. Less articulation and less detail. They still have the license and as long as they can make money without even doing anything simply by leasing it out, they will continue to do so.

Yeah I believe Hasbro has the liences until 2018 or so. HASBRO isn't going to let go to a cash cow. I wonder if after 2018 if SSC was able to buy it if SSC could afford it. Would it keep the costs the way they are or would these figures cost us more. Better yet would costs go down if middleman Hasbro was out of the picture. HmmmListen. A few of us have been here long enough to remember when SSC were regular participants here. We asked them all these questions and they have been common knowledge here for a long time. Take our word or try getting answers yourself.
