unfortunately, i think Sideshow will keep Vader to themselves... even if they negotiated an irresistible perpetuity for Vader with Hot Toys, it would still be years away...

They have the exclusive rights to HT's Star Wars license. :wink1:

Hasbro has the 1:6 license.
Hasbro has leased the 1:6 license to Sideshow.
Sideshow has the 1:6 license.
Sideshow has leased individual figures they have previously made to Hot Toys to remake.

The fact that they know (and we know), a HT Vader would KILL a Sideshow Vader, yet they still won't let them do it, is just selfish :stick

After SS releases their ESB, then ROTJ and then finally their ROTS Vader, I think HT will be allowed to make one. I'd say in 20 years, IF there's still a market for Star Wars.

No, its just smart business.

Plus HT already has too freaking much on their plate right now ti squeeze anything else in. Let them make what they've already got licenses for :pfft:

And make sure to use the right bit and apply the right amount of pressure. HTs screws strip sooo easily

Exactly, you'll only strip the screw if you don't use the right size screw driver that fits the screw snug and push down as Geil said. The small PC/electronic sets are suitable.

I got my shipping notice, should take just under a week to get to Australia. Now I'm looking forward to Bossk.

Exactly, they're not going to hand it over to HT.

Lets just wait for some more pics of SSC's new Vader. Then if it does suck it is probably time to give more over to HT.

Since Sideshow is still making Vaders, they won't license HT to make one anytime soon. Why let a compete? If they could figure out how to do Chewie, they might give them an expection there.

Thanks for the info. This explains a lot.

The more I look at the in-hand pics, the more I like it. First pics didn't sit well with me, didn't like the clothes, and do still think that the regular head is a bit off, but he grows on me more and more, people are doing a great job posing him, and now I am really excited to get him. Hopefully the hurricane will not screw up the East Coast mail services next week.
Got a Hasbro Hoth outfit, and 1/6 R2. Anyone else planning on similar way do display?

Is there any documentation that proves SSC is leasing the 1:6 from Hasbro? I mean, SSC figures are already on the cheap side financially, I can't see SSC paying Hasbro royalties on top of that.

I picked one up before, one of those clock projector R2s but it was exactly the size of my medi R2 :(

Cool new pic!

That pic has been around for over a week now :)

Looks pretty good, but...

Ya know what it is? It's like when you see a Die Hard 1 custom using one of those Brothers Production Die Hard With A Vengeance heads. It's a valiant attempt but it just ain't right. The hair is wrong, the face is wrong, it's just not ROTJ enough.

Each of the three main actors change so drastically between each film. Not only Hamill's obvious IV to V plastic surgery but their hairstyles, Ford and Fisher's weight fluctuations, not to mention just general aging. Specific sculpts are the only way I could ever be happy with these characters.

Still. Homeboy looks pretty good rockin' the robes. I do appreciate the pic! :duff
