I don't see Ford's likeness in either of those renditions. Hopefully HT will have a sculptor give it another go.

The best test is to crop out the fedora and clothing and show the sculpt to a neutral party.. that is someone who doesn't collect these ( spouse, coworker etc) and ask.. who does that look like... if they don't immediately say Harrison Ford then they didn't get it right.. ( someone did this on another forum and their spouse said "Mark Walhberg" :lol ... those of you that are swearing that this is a "spot on" likeness" try that... it helps when you poll people who are not trying or wanting to see Ford in the sculpt

That looks AMAZINGLY better. The curve changes in the Eyebrows, lips, nose, the shape of the face and jawline changes are spot on. I normally hate to read the boards to see people criticize and talk about changing hot toys head sculpts but this is amazing work you made on the changes, Hot Toys please use this photo to make the changes, I would possibly change my mind about not buying the figure if the head sculpt resembled something like the above.

I'm a professional artist/painter and I've painted Indiana Jones/Harrison Ford dozens of times, he's one of the hardest likenesses to get!

Don't really see him in it either. Knowing Hot Toys though it will be tweaked and tweaked until it's there.

Yes, that pic on the right definitely shows some positive improvements. However - can I suggest that Hot Toys should be looking at some actual photos of Ford from the time he filmed Raiders instead of looking at photoshop composites.

There's absolutely no question about the fact that this head sculpt needs work (otherwise we'd all be saying that it was a perfect Ford). As I said earlier, the Fedora sculpt needs to be completely re-done and I think they should forget about trying to use an actual ribbon on there. It just doesn't work at this scale. I have confidence that Hot Toys will make the necessary adjustments to this before it's released and I hope they address the innacuracies of the costume accessories too. (His gun belt should be wider than the pants belt). The actual movie costume had a gun belt that was 1.5 inches wide. His pants belt was 1 inch wide. I get frustrated when these companies don't look at the vast array of reference material available to them when they're designing these things.

Fingers crossed they'll improve this and we won't have anything negative to say about it when the final production version is unveiled!

Spot on mate. Without explaining any context I showed a cropped pic of the prototype pics to my wife and she had no idea who it was supposed to be (and she knows what a massive Raiders fan I am). I showed her small's altered pic and she said Harrison Ford without missing a beat.

I shall also probably not be explaining to her how much I am likely to spend on this figure...

I'm optimistic about HT improving the sculpt and probably even the Fedora, but I'm not as optimistic about them changing some other key parts of his adventure gear (namely the jacket) that need some serious attention.

Damn good advice my friend......

I get frustrated when these companies don't look at the vast array of reference material available to them when they're designing these things.

you'd think there would be at least ONE huge Indy fan on their creative team that would do that... apparently not...

:rotfl I'm sorry I get opinions, but you ass clowns who actually said that Sideshow's out of the box is all around better shouldn't be driving.

Obviously you don't when you when you make statements like this. :lol :slap

but i can't blame the ones that complain every now and then. i just wish they'd do it in a more civilized manner. i mean, on one side, people say "oh it looks like his stunt double"...which to people like us who think this figure is spot on, take it as an insult and lash out by talking smack about SSC's ver and this will go on until the end of ****ing time. i look at SSC's sculpt, it has the essence of ford, but i don't like a few things, over sized head, and lack of personality...oh and pisspoor paintjob. slap a different coat of paint, he still lacks personality and will ONLY be good for one pose...standing.

Thing is I see more "attacking" from the HT Fanboys than I do anything else. Now, it kind of was the other way around when the SS Indy figures came out. Sure some have been a bit harsh but honestly saying it looks like his stunt double isn't all that damn bad. If folks are getting hurt over these comments then maybe an internet forum isnt for you.

Thought HT would knock this out of the park, but I'm seriously underwhelmed.

Likeness isn't doing anything for me. I'll reserve judgement until better pictures / revisions are done before I decide if I want this.

Thats how I feel Rizzo. As I said earlier that with all the really cool stuff they showed or I have on order this had a tall order in front of it. Especially so when you consider the level of awesomeness HT does on a regular basis.

A safety order right now is the best thing one can do if you're on the fence incase they really go back and tweak this. Though, I'm starting to fall on the side of the fence that may not order it at all.

I don't think its spot on but there are people right on this page who see no Ford at all.

At a certain point it ceases to be opinion and starts being something wrong with your eyes. Human flesh is naturally hot rod red is just a stupid statement, if you want to coddle that sort of opinion be my guest.

Again.. crop out the photo and show it around to people with no vested interest and see what results you get... I imagine you will find a lot of friends and coworkers "with something wrong with their eyes"...

Yes, excuse me everyone with no vested interest who probably haven't seen an Indy movie in years, who does this toy in this one out of context non official pic look like to you?

I'll trust my own eyes, 20/20 that got me through flight training in being able to see a simple resemblance. :dunno

Ok so they don't see Ford at all. At first I didn't see a lot either but as pictures and angles have changed I did see a bit in there.

No, it doesn't start being something wrong with their eyes. Sorry thats just not correct. Its just their two cents. You may feel they have something wrong but thats your opinion.

And I'll trust my eyes in which I wear contacts and have been able to get through life just fine even managing to get a college degree. Time to get over yourself a bit man. HT didn't nail this one out of the gate but may in the end with some tweaks.

Also side note don't try to label me as a hater. I've owned several HT figures and have several right now with more on order.

But then use the official pics, that particularly photoshopped pic is pretty crappy...

I have to admit so far I'm not very impressed especially for what the price point will probably be . I didn't really plan on getting Hot Toys Indy anyhow .

I think I'll do some more futzing with my loose ROTA Indy and try to tighten some of the screws on the floppy body.

And they don't need to have seen an Indy film in the last few years to know or be able to recognize Harrison Ford... I guarantee I could approach any number of people that have not seen Platoon in a few years ( or ever for that matter) and show them the headsculpt from that set and they would say, "hey that looks like Charlie Sheen"... same with, say the Robert Downey Jr sculpt.... at the end of the day the hope here is that HT may just step back and say, hmmm.. maybe we should revisit this sculpt.... this is simply constructive criticism.. definitely does not warrant an abrasive attitude... and could very well have favorable results for the collective community... or.. we could just remain quiet, shrug our shoulders and say, well.. I "see a simple resemblance"... and spend a chunk of money for something that is just OK... 20/20 vision got me through college, onto a fire department.... through a police academy..got me into law school... and I have yet to sew my fingers into one of my holsters.. but I am still disappointed with this sculpt.. needs work... here's to hoping it gets improved !

The key is as simple as pausing the DVD, the figure has to look right when reposed so that it can be Indy from any scene in Raiders:

The sculpt, I'm guessing, will be updated. The most glaring thing is the hat. The hat, simply put, is not a RAIDERS hat. The RAIDERS Fedora has a lot of specific detail.

There is a guy in Australia who has spent years learning and exactly matching every hat in the film, they are 100% screen accurate. Hot Toys should use one of his hats as the model:
