Now that we got these pics, there are only two issues that could ruin this figure.

1. The back of the head having an unhidden panel for the PERS with an ugly, visible seam. (That would kill everything if he had a robotic panel on the back of his head :lol)

2. The body suit leaking. (I don't think it will though)

Other than those possibilities, this figure is perfect. The likeness of Keaton in the eyes and mouth is great, the cowl is perfectly sculpted, the suit is faithfully replicated, the cape is better than any of us dreamed and the gadgets are all there.

I am bothered by the fact that they didn't layer the pieces and went straight for the full on rubber suit... seems they could have figured out a way to have it be in parts like the real suit and gave it much more movement.

Oh well, here's to deterioration! :wave

M.

Yeah, they're Nikes. Thankfully, Hot Toys didn't put the Nike text logo on the strap.

Though, if you look closely on the side, it appears they gave it the swoosh logo. :panic::panic::panic:

I can't believe how spot on everything is. Hot Toys must have some pretty damn good reference.

Wow :panic:

Just up a notch on this figure :panic::panic::lol

They did klocket.

Take a closer look at the chest plate and upper arms. See the armpits? That's a completely separate layer, just like this.

Leg's look like they can't move without cracking the rubber.

Mo rubber, mo problems. :lecture

Rubbery and limited articulation... :monkey1

:clap Good. Now if this doesn't leak like a sieve I'll keep my PO :D

Cape looks pretty sloppy here.

The proto looks good, but that's about all that can be said.

Pretty excited for this figure, huh? :lol

Here's my prediction.

If anything goes bad with this figure due to manufacturing, Hot Toys will see a mass exodus of customers.

They might feel that they are untouchable because of their base of operations, but that won't matter in the end.

Yep.

Even though I haven't had problems with any of the Batman figures I own from them (the OC TDK and 2 DX 02 figures) if this '89 Batman figure shows any sign of leakage or deterioration, I'm done with Hot Toys.

I would think that by the time this '89 Batman goes into production they'll have gotten their act together. Especially after the DX 02 Batman, Comedian and Sarah Connor debacles. If they're that incompetent, still then good luck to future business with them.

Time will tell though. As with the Toy Fairs Begins Batman I'm willing to find out if there are issues.

The good outweighs the potential bad in my opinion,

Good

- Headsculpt
- eyes
- The Michael Keaton likeness
- The fit of the "mask"
- Texture
- Faithfulness to the actual suit
- Accuracy
- Belt actually clasps just like in the film
- Proportions
- Cape
- Chest emblem (no other company or custom has achieved the perfect symbol, until now)
- All those wonderful toys

vs.

Bad

- Possible leakage/Deterioration
- PERS functionality and aesthetic issues
- Limited articulation

Oh someone is mad I'm skeptical about his dream figure. :rotfl

Not really. I've actually commented on the possibility of leakage and deterioration on this figure also. I also think the base is a piece of crap, so there's some negativity there too. :dunno

The difference is though, I'm not mentioning it in. Every. Post. I. Make. In. Here. You're a buzzkill in this thread, bro.

Stunning pics pop up and everyone is in agreement that what they see is fantastic (even Nam! :horror:lol) and what does Yankee Planet state, "pretty good, but only prototype". Then everything after is a negative remark. "Cape looks bad there". What about the pics in which it looked good? "Rubber this, rubber that." Yeah, everyone has discussed the issues of rubber, it hasn't been swept under the rug.

What do you like about this figure?

Prototype's are supposed to look "stunning" so sorry I don't slurp the Keaton Kool Aid based on a pair of prototype shots. :lol

If you want to drool and declare this proto the greatest thing since sliced bread then knock yourself out, I'll continue to post how I have been. Don't like it? Don't read it. Simple. :wave

I agree but I think we are done with mass problems with HT, sure a problem here and there, thats life, but all in all i bet QC is up.

I understand where you are coming from but proto's are just that...proto's. Look at the Spiderman proto's and look at the final product, the proto isn't in the same league...and Spidey is a HT masterpiece IMO.

Did I say proto enough, lol

Hmm.

First of all we've gotten more than "a pair" of pics. We have everything but shots from the back. The promotion pics of the figure look fantastic and even with the the crappy in-person glass display pics and bad, over-exposed shots you get this sense that this figure is great stuff. Literally one of the best 1/6 figures ever made. History has shown with Hot Toys that the final product is as good or better than the prototype. It's been that way for a few years now. I don't see what your problem is.

Now, if this thing was currently shipping and we got reports/pictures of leaking, ripping and deteriorating '89 Batman figures then I'd be right there with you. That hasn't happened yet and may not occur at all.

Awesome! :rock

Glad to see the behind the shoulder cape thing works. But if they don't make articulation in the boots, poses like this are flat out ruined in my opinion.

Is it just me, or are even the shoes awesome?

Well they certainly look like what the actor wore. But they don't look like what I pictured Batman wearing in my minds eye.

I know I'm in the minority, but I would have liked to see them use some artistic license to make them look like one solid boot rather than jimmy rigged Nikes.

I don't see any swoosh. :dunno

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I don't begrudge you yours. :1-1:

Like I said above, you're entitled to drink the Keaton prototype Kool Aid all day, doesn't bother me one bit. I choose to reserve calling this fantastic until it's in hand b/c of the concerns already stated. I don't have a "problem", you have a problem with my opinion since it's not in line with yours obviously. Too bad.

As for the underlined portion, if you wish to derail this thread further I can name 3 recent prototype's off the top of my head that look far superior than the final HT product.
