Hot Toys Community has this new feature with Hot Toys figures where they try and recreate a cinematic "still" using the figure. I don't know if some of you noticed.

I thought this was pretty cool. They certainly got the feel of the character and film down even though it's from the alley.

They have Avatar and Predators shots so far too.

And the Joker 89 as well. :exactly:

Wow awesome pic...I wish HT would include backdrops more often. They really add a level of realism, and how expensive can that be to do?

That's a very solid pic. It would be nice if the 89 sets came with a few cinematic backdrop dio's like this like they have for other releases.

Will anyone be brave enough to attempt a pose this with his arms folded I wonder.

I know damn well they wouldn't stay posed that way if one were to try and attempt to contort them. You'd need light, clear tape or fishing line or something. Definitely not worth trying in my opinion.

If only HT'd done the arms like that. :(

I wonder if it ever occurred to them during development to have a fabric "wet suit" type body suit where they'd glue/attach a harder, rubber/PVC armor pieces to it?

Think the Sideshow Star Wars troopers except the armor components would be glued and it wouldn't be bulky armor.

But nah, that would be too intricate and costly. Lets just make a one piece, two piece tops rubber suit!

Problem with that is over time the glue would release from the suit or even unglue itself with minimal posing every time the undersuit is stretched.

This is true.

I guess they could make the armor pieces attach directly to the True Type and sew the fabric wet suit to the chest, arm and leg plating. I don't know if you guys remember Q, but he did an excellent job of combining the two with his custom.

I knew Hot Toys would have no problem getting the aesthetics and details of the sculpt right. From the cowl to the boots, it's literally the best representation of the character in figure form. I just wish they moved away from a full body rubber "glove" and designed something with a little more functionality. Segments of rubber would be much more tolerable than a whole body.

Who knows if that would even work or pose well though. I really would have lived if they made the entire body like a Predator True Type with exposed articulation joints/points but I don't think that would sit well with alot of people . . .

I really hope that rubber is as good or better than the rubber they used for the 2008 Original Costume TDK Batman figure. The texture of it makes it look like it's harder and more shell like, but I don't know with these latest batches of pics with the arms and legs.

They should've just sculpted the suit into the body and hidden the joints like they did for the Predators. Not only would it have been a favorable choice for longevity, but it would've also added considerably more poseability. Plus, Batman would've been able to sit in the Batmobile for prolonged periods of time without worry of damage.

I cut me some Nike Swoosh's and added them to all my foot wear, even my slippers :rock

Go ahead Nike, sue me :pfft:

I have them tattooed on my feet. :pfft:

:rotfl:lol

That's what I think. Just a curve to fill the space where the swoosh would be.

:exactly:

Let me clarify: Even though the Nike symbols aren't there they still look like jimmy rigged athletic shoes to me.

Screen accurate (with the exception of the Nike symbols)? Yes.

But I would have liked a boot that looks like I imagined the boots looked - all one piece with continuos lines uninterrupted by a shoe stuck on the bottom of them.

As I said, I'm surly in the minority. And really, it's a minor nit-pic.

All I really ask is that the ankles articulate.

I think your #1 of 1 in that group :lol

Eh, I prefer the way they've done it. Screen accuracy > poseability for me.

Now don't tell me that I should go buy statues and PFs then :slap:gah::lol
