It literally looks like you could take the mask off and have a 1/6 Michael Keaton underneath it. This is probably the best cowl/mask sculpt I've ever seen.

Usually with PERS the eyes look really cartoony but here the way they're set in and the way the eyes are done up and painted it looks totally real. Hot Toys could have just painted them with that same dark black as they did with the rest of the suit but no, they added some flesh tones to it and made it slightly opaque which makes it look like Wayne did it himself. I think when this thing starts shipping along with the Joker people are going to be as blown away as they are with the fantastic Superman and Captain Jack Sparrow.

My only concern is the rubber suit and how the PERS functions. Everything else from the sculpt, proportions, accuracy and 1/6 "prop gadgets" look extremely well done.

I'm still curious if the suit is a full body rubber suit like the old Batmans or if they're trying something new, the torso arm just doesn't look like rubber, but yet, the arms definitely do in some shots.

Yeah. Like I've said before some parts look like they're that harder shell type of stuff that True Types like Arnold, Bruce Lee, Superman etc. utilize. I'm hoping parts like the armor chest plate (the chest/bicep/abs area) is this strong plating like it is in the film. It looks like it and the texture on these parts as well as the armor looks alot stronger than previous Batman figures.

That would be a pity if the whole suit is just this two piece, thin rubber suit ala the new Toy Fairs Begins Batman. Something more solid and heavy like the T-800 would be preferable. I really don't mind if it restricts movement as I'm not going to go for spider-man, aerobic style poses. As long as I can get him in fight positions (fists up), unfurling his cape, and make use of the gadgets, I'm fine.

Not that it's a concern for me when it comes to this figure, but I was curious did the actual costume in the 89 film have a texture to it like HT has given it? I was always under the impression it was a smooth matte finish.

The cape was quite textured, the cowl was textured under the right lighting, his armor was smooth.

Yeah, you're right about the smooth finish on the suit/armor.

I'm thinking the final product will be somewhere in between. We've seen hi-res pics of face sculpts that have a similar texture (Skywalker's face for example) that are all but softened in the in-hand production piece.

I figure this will be the same way, just not as soft as the Begins/OC suit but more like the Arnold/Superman/Destan/Barney/Royce muscle body.

As long as the rubber isn't crap and this is well made with little to no major QC problems, the texture appearance vs. accurate smooth is not important to me.

I 100% agree with everything you said.

Im hoping for the same as I thing any HT collector is...I'm sure a message has been sent to HT by the number of replacements SSC had with BB, hopefully HT corrects this ongoing problem.

If the DX 02 problem, Comedian issues, all those facebook posts, requests to Sideshow for the Begins Batman and just the overall complaints about rubber haven't reached Hot Toys, there's something wrong.

Logic would show you that since all these problems have occurred they'll make damn well sure it doesn't happen with this. Especially after the strong partnership Hot Toys and Sideshow has going on now. If the above incidents, messages and replacements haven't reached them, nothing will.

I have faith though. Here's hoping for the best possible '89 Batman figure. Hopefully it sets a standard on how rubber component/type suits SHOULD be done and they follow this for a TDKR or any future Batman they come into contact with. If something does happen, this figure is the last time I purchase anything from Hot Toys with rubber.

Indeed, their QC is quite incosistent though. Muscle body rubber has been fine, the OC Bats and v1 TDK were fine. It's such a crap shoot as to which figures and why get issues, I just hope this isn't one of them as I look forward to it more than any other Batman figure.

Again I agree...between this and Joker(whose HS is about as perfect as it gets) a new bar has definitely been set...for me these are a must own.

Left ear a little off. Broken maybe? Still.:gah::panic::monkey3

Yeah probably but imagine how often this thing has been carried around, photographed and all the trips it has taken. That and who knows if it's made out of the same materials Hot Toys uses for the final product.

Proto Superman had a visible, parting neck seam at the conventions and later photographs while the final product is practically seamless. No worries.

Wasn't the '89 film suit's torso a hard plate of armor over a fabric/nylon/soft latex body suit? When he lifts his arms in the film, you can see the fabric stretch from the bicep-to-armpit area. You can see where the hard plate ended. It was never a one piece rubber sweater like the Forever, B&R, and BB suits were.

Goes to reason that HT could have done the same. Are there any photos in which you can see the figure's arms lifted without being shrouded in shadow (like in the official pics)?

Rubber leaking probably won't be an issue with this figure.
