As Pix said, prototype reveal order isn't related to release order. Some figures run into issues in product and take longer than planned, sometimes HT makes changes/additions to figures that force them to take longer, and as I said, I believe they also prioritize things to suit their needs.
As for the films, Avatar has nothing in 2012 and Tron's a maybe.
Yes, Batman 1989 has no sequel, but in the broad sense, there is a new Batman movie. Hot Toys like to ride the hype of new movies in a franchise with figures from older ones. HT put out Terminator Salvation figures and they were very successful and they rolled right into Terminator 2 and The Terminator.
The Dark Knight Rises comes out this summer, The Dark Knight figures were HUGE for Hot Toys, they'll be rolling out TDKR figures, the Batman '89 figures allow them do something fun, but also starts getting the HT collector-base in a Batman mood again in addition to the Demons Bats and Begins Bats figures. They also have to erase the mess that was DX02 Batman from people's minds before TDKR so the more rubber suit Batmans they can put out before then to show they've moved on from that mess, the better for them.
It sucks, but Sucker Punch, Tron and Avatar aren't as big in the collecting world as Batman has established himself, HT focuses on the big money like re-releasing Predators and making up Iron Mans, so sadly for some, Batman will win out over other things.
I understand the frustration that you're still waiting for other stuff, but if you're going to collect 1/6 figures from the likes of Sideshow or Hot Toys where they're making a great number of figures each year, you have to realize just because you order something at a given date, doesn't mean it'll show up before other things, usually the companies are good about it and stay on track, but from time to time they don't and it's pretty common and normal.
You're very well spoken Maulfan and best of all you don't insult a person over their non-batman interests.
It's not just that a figure is getting released before them, it's that it's Batman and Iron Man Figures, two licenses that i like, and two licenses that i'm sick of seeing everywhere.
The hype and fanboy extremes of Nolan's batman in particular have started to make me hate the films, not because of the films themselves but because they are everywhere.
I go to the DC section and every single thread is about Batman, more specifically Nolan's Batman, with maybe one for Superman and one for a SSC Batman piece, i go to the Marvel section and there is Cap, Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Blade, Wolverine, X-Men and others, interests for all.
I go to the Hot Toys FB page and there are TDKR movie stills and promotional stuff and spoiler posted every other day as well as people who missed the Recent remake (not even six months old) of the Begins suit asking for it to be remade & asking for 1/6 Batcaves and Helicoptors and other insane prospects, and while this happens the figures i want from other licenses are ignored either completely or by getting 1-2 figures only.
They may not be as commercially blockbusting or excessivley publicised as The goddamn Batman, but i and others like and want them to get the attention due them.
Nolan is the new George Lucas, people are kissing his arse left right and center. The films are good and i enjoy them, but they aren't the be all and end all of movies and due the amount if collectibles they have gotten, i don't think any film is.
I haven't watched Begins/TDK in about 5 months and i feel like i watched it 16 times in the last 4 weeks, cos it's everywhere, all the time. And as someone said, this is just a precursoe to another never ending cylcle of Nolan Batman stuff.
*in other words Sucker Punch sucked
You didn't like it, that's fine, but i don't insult what you like so don't be a ****** about the stuff i and others like.
