How reliable is he? Do we know for sure he'll have it out this week? I may jump on it if so...

I am usually patient- But I have waited over 20 years for this guy!

Sallah

Very reliable! if you don't mind his huge price hike ups, he is super dependable and secure. I've bought from him numerous times without fail :lecture

The only problem is the Chinese New Year coming up for them. :(

I can't wait to get this figure in two years. Hopefully it hasn't increased in price too much, but there is absolutely no way I am even taking a small chance of him melting.

You're talking about Kidult, right? I think he was asking about the ebay guy Phoenixhongkong.

Both, this time I went with another I've dealt with before and the results are obvious. :lecture

Again at this point, because of the Chinese new Year, another day will hurt you...You got the funds go for it!

I recommend any of the Asia dealers with more than 1,000 hits of feedback, I've dealt with them all and did not disappoint. :lecture

I wouldn't call it HT's best figure as it's a pretty simple design outside of the cape, but certainly one of their most authentic looking figures, but I judge best by figures that really demonstrate a wide range of skill or push the industry forward and this is pretty much a standard figure for them at this point.

What would be their finest figure for you then?

I would say DX Jack Sparrow. While he suffers a couple inaccurracies, the ammount and quality of the detail work from paint to sculpting work, the amazing tailoring that makes a 3 layer costume not bulk at all without looking or feeling cheap, and everything else. While I don't own it, I'd also say either, especially the new, Mark I Iron Man would also fit the bill. I'm thinking from a standpoint, if Hot Toys could have only 1 figure to show the world to say, here's the best we can do and all that we're capable of, and by that, Batman doesn't show off ALL they can do, he is a stunning example of some of the things they can do, but not all of it, I think Jack and Iron Man Mark I really encompass all of the areas that a 1/6 figure maker could do work in and offer great examples of work in those areas.

Well said maul.

I love the fact that HT have put wireing in his cape, if only they did that with there Noland Batman's. Something so simple but so effective for posing. I can't wait for this figure, now I'm desperate for a Returns Catwoman, make it happen HT :)

89 Batman is a fun film, but compared to the Nolan films it can barely be viewed seriously

Not really, I mean, I grew up with the Keaton bats, saw the films quite a few times - but I never considered them great movies, just cool movies where it was fun to see Batman in live action

The Nolan films for me anyway are great films - among the very best that have come out in my lifetime anyway, for me.

I wanted to reply to these comments because I think they really hit on something.

Batman '89 can't be viewed seriously compared to Nolan's Batman films, but I think it would be silly to even make that comparison.

Tim Burton makes very entertaining films, but I'd say his strongsuit is in creating visuals and alternate worlds unlike ours that allow for escapism and adventure.

Christopher Nolan is a more character and plot focused director, and while his films do have their share of interesting visuals, you really feel him pouring more into the story and the people. He makes films that engage the intellectual side more than the creative.

Thankfully, having such different approaches to telling stories about the same character allows for almost everyone to have a movie that speaks to their tastes.

The comparisons and arguing we see around this site are just silly, because the arguments themselves are very obvious and blatant. The things people say one or the other aren't, happen to be that way because it wasn't the intent of the filmmaker, it's not as though Burton and Nolan both went to tell their story in the same way and one did a better job of certain traits than the other, they both came at it from quite opposite angles.

Well, I had a chunk of money that has been sitting in my paypal account... Used that and an ebay gift certificate I had to justify buying this early. If Phoenix gets it out on time, I may have this guy by next week! Fingers crossed!

True, but the '89 Batman film isn't just this senseless, dense film that people make it out to be either.

Is it "silly" compared to the Nolan films? Perhaps. But there's this pathos and psychological depth to the Keaton Batman that the Bale Batman doesn't really have. Then again, I guess you could say that about Ledger's Joker compared to Nicholson's.

I don't know, I think there are some crucial things that Burton gets that Nolan doesn't (iconography, symbolism, visuals) and there are things Nolan gets that Burton doesn't (story, themes, emphasis on plot). Both are pretty crucial to film and storytelling in my opinion. If you were to some how combine both interpretation dare I say you'd have the perfect Batman.

True, Burton's films aren't completely devoid of story and character, but as far as percentage of the overall run time, Nolan spends more of his on the story and character where Burton gives you a lot of interesting visuals.

See, I feel no need to jump into the Nolan threads and list all the reasons why I am not really a fan of those films. I realize that many people do and I am totally cool with that. If you want to prefer them, that is your choice and it isn't really my place to point the finger and say "you're wrong for liking those and my favorites are better because..."

Different strokes for different folks. I much prefer the Burton take on the franchise, and I always will. Doesn't mean that you are wrong for preferring Nolan... it just means we like two different things, and that's okay.
