I remember my mom bought me Batman on VHS on release day. I went to get in the car and when I opened the door it was sitting in my seat. I remember that like it was yesterday.

I finally got the damn cape tamed on this guy. Got him in a fists up, ready to tumble pose next to Superman. Really awesome figure. The whole room smells like him though. He had a very strong smell out of the box, lol.

Two things. One. That is a really cool memory. And Second. My wife said he smells like tires. lol.

I thought it'd be to take a trip down memory lane with my fellow '89 fans who grew up on the movie.

I was 6 when this movie came out, but as soon as the movie was out on home video, my parents got it for me, after screening it for content. I grew up on reruns of the Adam West show and an old Batman cartoon, so I was excited for the movie. Being young, I missed out on noticing the hype, but I had books, posters, and of course, toys.

Even though I was really young, I wanted a figure that looked just like Keaton in the costume, it bothered me how the toy capes would attach over the cowl, hiding the design and of course, not looing right. Despite being innaccurrate, I did have 2 favorite '89 Batman figures that I loved to play with.

It took over 20 years, but I finally got the figure I wanted as a little boy, and finally having this thing in hand makes me feel like a kid again. While the Sovereign custom figure served the need for a time, it was nowhere near to this level, there is nothing off to me about the Hot Toys figure, it is satisfying on every level and couldn't be topped.

I had both of those figures as a kid. Man, I can't believe how much better figures have gotten. I can't wait for my HT Batman 89!

I love the smell of new tires. :yess: I was only two or three when my parents bought the VHS for me. I don't remember if I thought the box the was cool or what, but the damn thing set up my lifelong love for Batman lol. I'm pretty sure I won't let my kids watch it in the future until they're a bit older though.

I watched all the time as a kid and I was only 5. Not all of it probably made sense then but I definitely got enjoyment and caught on to Batman fever pretty quickly. This was always one of my favorite portions at the beginning of the vhs..

I was 9 when the movie hit, and man I was so excited for it. I had the Batman with the belt that you have there, and I remember REALLY wanting Bob the Goon for some reason, and being pissed off that I never got him. :cuckoo:

I wore my VHS out when I got it, after seeing the movie a couple times in theaters. Over the years, my views on the movie have kind of toughened a little bit, as I've gotten more and more into the comics and learned more about the characters, but Keaton still holds a lot of magic for me. I still don't like Nicholson, never have, but watching the movie in the spirit it was intended (as an adaptation of the original 10 or so Batman comics) instead of a modern take on Batman, it's gotten to be more enjoyable for me.

The thing I remember most about the VHS? The Diet Coke commercial at the beginning.

Wow...u guys were pretty young. I was 16 when Batman came out. I remember ALL the hype, all the comic book store debates and the awesome f@%#ing soundtrack!!!

I was already a HUGE Batman fan...was my favorite since Adam West. And even though I loved that corny show, still do!, I had major reservations about Mr. Mom/Beetlejuice playing Batman. After I saw the movie, I still wasn't as sold on him as Batman but I loved him as Bruce Wayne...and I loved the costume design. After many many viewings of this movie, I grew to really appreciate his portrayal of Bats. Never bought many of the figures though.

But this one is a friggin must have!!!

That's a pretty rad set-up.

One leg on mine is also a bit longer that the other as well, but not as bad as that. You can see it because the gap between the knee & the top of the boot is bigger on one leg than the other.

True Type's all have the same length legs. There's something that could be done to adjust/pose it.

Anybody else's PERS kind of hard to adjust? Mine doesn't seem to move as freely as my other DX's.

Not at all, I'm actually blown away by the PERS on this, moves very smoothly and has the widest range of motion out of any PERS figure I've ever had, I figure ther larger head allows more room inside to move around.

Love the lighting here, very much like the promo shots against the grey backdrop, just enough lighting for his skin and eyes to pop with just enough highlights to get some suit detail, but minimal enough to capture a shadowy figure feeling. I hope to figure out a way to light some photos similarly as it's a quality I love about the promo shots.

I've owned 3 DX figures and the DX01 Joker had the worst PERS to date imo.

Which is understandable, being the first. I feel DX02 worked 2nd best of the ones I've had, DX09 being the best. Jack Sparrow's odd, the control's smooth on the serious face, but I've got multiple smirking faces and the PERS is stiff on all of them. Hopefully Nicholson Joker works smoothly, I think PERS will be fun with him too.

I didn't realize Sparrow came with 2 PERS sculpts. That's cool.

The pics are killing me but I think I still wanna wait to have them (Bats & Joker) shipped together.

Probably a good call. I've never had a Joker and as nice as he looks in photos, I foun him passable if things got tight financially, but having gotten Batman, I feel a need to have Joker, this figure is so satisfying that it makes you crave more '89 stuff and Joker is the next logical thing to want.
