They really did and in all honesty the comparison pic doesn't really do it justice cause it looks like the film pick is a bit stretched. I'm glad you posted that pic though because Ive been trying to remember what scene his mouth looked like. Looks great

That shot of figure always makes me think of the shot when Joker first sees him in the Cathedral, "excuse me, have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light."

Six long months of posting before anything ships. How long are these threads gonna be? Im as excited for these figures as I was when my T2 T-800 was in the mail. These will probably be the purchases of 2012 for me unless they finally do my damn BD T2 and Police Soot Out T1!!!! Those are all grail pieces for me..well them and if by some miracle someone pulls off a badass William Wallace.

Ah, the 'outside my scheduled programming' grails for me are Maximus from Gladiator, John McClane from Die Hard and Riggs&Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon.

Here's a scenario for us to ponder...
HT gets the Man of Steel licence, HT gets the Russell Crowe licence to make a Jor El figure, HT pursues other Russell Crowe characters to make full use of the licence, HT gets Gladiator licence and Presto! we have ourselves a Maximus! That figure would be a dream come true for me, Gladiator holds my "most times seen at a cinema" record which is 10. Now you all went and got me excited for a pipe dream, man i love this forum.

Hmmm.. I thought licences are movie specific. I would think there would be a clause somewhere stating specifics of such. I dunno

:lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly: Unless the actor's likeness was included in their contract with the studio, HT will have to get it separately. Along the same lines, just because they have an actor's likeness, doesn't mean they have the rights to just run around producing figures from the various roles that actor's played. They still need the rights to the movies too.

Yeah, 2 separate things need to be secured:

1. Property/Brand License (Batman - Warner Bros/DC)

2. Actor Likeness Rights (Jack Nicholson, et al)

A lot of times Hot Toys has to secure things via both routes (as they did with the Arnold PREDATOR figure, for example and as they're doing with these Batman figures). But sometimes the license holder also has full rights to actors' likenesses so the licensee (Hot Toys) would only need to deal with them. Such is the case with Lucasfilm properties. Lucas' contracts with the actors is such that Lucasfilm has all of the rights and say for all SW and INDY products, even an actor's likeness. Believe it or not, someone like Harrison Ford has no say in any Indiana Jones or Han Solo figure that gets produced. It's just Lucasfilm. But this is not always the case with all properties. In fact, Nicholson was one of the first actors to secure his own likeness licensing deal with Batman.
