Not trying to get too far off topic, but I just watched Forever the other day. Val Kilmer would've actually made a decent Keaton successor had they taken the material seriously. The suits are actually kind of cool, too.

Agreed. I'd love to have that Panther suit on my shelf.

Just enjoy your figures as much as you can. Many things can affect the longevity of rubber. Hopefully there will be no leaking issues with this Batman. My OC and TDK Batman have no issues and still look great.

Well i am not sure how well/long the rubber can holdup for because i dunno what are the %composition or proportion that makes up the rubber produced by Hot Toys but i am fairly sure it will last for generations to come provided they handled it with the same amount of care n caution.
 
Since we really don't know the construction of this figure yet there's no sense in worrying about how long it'll last, really. It has a newly developed body and the armor has a completely different look to it than any other HT Bats so there may actually be no parts that have a potential for problems like the Nolan Bats.

Just enjoy it. Don't sit around wringing your hands, wondering when it will show the first signs of decay.

If it starts to break down in some way 10 years from now, that doesn't mean it will instantly turn into a pile of dust. It will still look like a badass figure for years to come. :)
 
Do you guys think that the KEaton batman could survive for many years to come? as well as all of HT figures.

Maybe you should consult a scientist who studies the biodegradation of whatever rubber & related compounds HT uses for these figures if you want any educated answer to that, b/c you won't get 1 here. :huh

In perfect conditions like that I would say around 12.56

Two processes are of special importance in the preservation of rubber: oxidation, a chemical deterioration, and crystallization, a molecular restructuring that causes the material to loose its elasticity. Modern rubber, such as that found in NASM spacesuits, is highly susceptible to oxidation, and will slowly crystallize at room temperature.

Rubber can be preserved against oxidation by cold storage but only at the cost of consideraly accelerating crystallization. However, it was found that such low temperature crystallization is reversible through heating, and that crystallization occurring at sufficiently low temperatures will be completely reversed by returning the object to room temperature. This was found also to be valid for rubber that has already undergone appreciable chemical change through oxidation. Hence, cold storage provides an effective long-term preservation strategy for rubber.

The experimental elastomeric components that the Apollo suits contained are in a a league of their own. :lol

For figures and the like: Relatively consistent cool temperatures, humidity, and an absence of UV light exposure are the keys to keeping rubber and plastics safe for the long term.

Most collectors live in environments that fall within these parameters, so enjoy and don't worry about it too much.

I live in the desert, gets around 115% to 125% in the Summer.

I'm in the south and same thing, well not quite that high. ;) I cancelled the Batman Begins one just now as (a) I don't need a bunch of pictures to show me that it's likely going to be a problem, plus those that seem to think these things don't have a long shelf life and (b) because of the 89 Joker and batman (BUT if the 89 Batman has any issues, it's cancelled too.) I don't have the money nor time to mess around with this if these overpriced collectibles just fall apart in a short time.
