DX 09 Batman sold well, unless all the hype for that figure was just fabricated out of thin air. He sold out in months (less than a year) everywhere online and there are still people that want one. There was/is a huge buzz over that figure. Everyone seemed to have it when it first came out. Every Keaton Batman figure has sold like hotcakes, especially the latest mass produced 7" figure. Didn't DX 09 sell out before Reeve Superman and Nicholson Joker?

Joker on the other hand, especially the Mime version, was a dud. Unless of course they overproduced the hell out of him, I dunno. DX 08 sold through eventually though and while it doesn't command as much as DX 09 Keaton on the secondary market, it does appear to go for roughly the same amount as it did when it first debuted ($260-$270). Those people selling them had to have bought them from somewhere, right? It wouldn't make sense for Hot Toys to release the Mime Joker if DX 08 sold like crap, would it?

If this were Penguin, then yes, I would say that a very small minority would be interested in a high end figure of him. Another Keaton Batman figure though? Of course it would sell. Unless those different people on facebook crying/whining, "where's Returns Batman" every new release are just freaks from here, I'd say it'd be popular in a "DX 09 2.0" sort of way. The point is, Hot Toys hasn't even given it a chance. Surely it would be a better sell than their Arkham Batman (poorly received), Bank Robber 2.0 (poorly received) and the Bat 1/12 vehicle.

Yes, then you agree with my exact point -- or you misread my post. Think about it, if everyone has a Keaton Batman on the shelf, why in the world would you think they would buy a 2nd? Some, like you. But the vast majority are fine with the one and only. That might be the way HT is thinking. Just a theory. The suit isn't drastically different to most people -- this is not like Iron Man with multiple armors.

Yeah, I agree with you . . . if that "planned" figure they had shown at the summer shows is all they'd give us (plus a couple of dinky mandatory accessories). If it's just a barebones release and the only thing different about it is the suit, then yeah, I doubt it would be that appealing to everyone. It's all about presentation (which Hot Toys refuses to do with this line).

If it has the much desired Bruce Wayne head though? Some bits that separate it and make it stand out from the DX 09? Then I'm sure it would be a hit. How about all the people that said they were going to pass on the DX 09 to "wait for Returns" (best example would be Bo Shreck here) and really wanted a Keaton portrait, that are now kicking themselves. I don't know if it was you or Maulfan (or both, or even Coco) but I remember a bunch of people defending the gripes against the DX 09 because it didn't come with another portrait because "he never looked like that in the first one". Remember all the fuss?

To this day I still see people that are disappointed that they "missed out" on DX 09, don't want to pay $400+ for it on ebay, but would like a Batman in their collection. Then there are guys like us that would buy it even if we have the first. It's not like this is a second version of the '89 suit, it's an all new figure! If Hot Toys Garfield Spider-Man can get two different releases (those are extremely poor sellers), Bale Batman can have a dozen releases of the same two suits (which people still se to want updates of), and Iron Man can get a thousand releases to his name, then from a business standpoint, how can a second Keaton Batman with a brand new look hurt or be a risk? They did it with Nicholson and The Wolverine and nobody wanted those.

My point is, they're not even trying. Surely atleast another Keaton Batman would be as popular as Tonto, Arkham Batman, Bank Robber Joker, John Blake, Gordon 2.0 Sleepy Hollow and John Matrix, if not more so? They took the risk on those?

Hindsight. :lol

If its a super deluxe with Keaton sculpt and those glider wings and stuff, then it seems like it would be worth double-dipping. Maybe they're just giving themselves a lot of space. Who knows...

So where are they at in terms of the average release date? Is it Q1 2016 or beyond yet? I know Star Lord just popped up (with an impressive 5 month wait period), but he seems to be an exception, not the rule.

Even if Returns Batman and the two Ripley figures popped up this month, or even next year, wouldn't there projected release date be Q4 2016/ at the latest? That's insane. I can't be the only one who is shocked by the figure release output in the past two months.

I have no idea, but the real Avengers onslaught hasn't even begun... let alone the culmination of the OT Star Wars and then the new barrage of VII figures. If those two monster franchises weren't enough, this summer has to be the biggest in decades with all the movies coming out.

Ironically, this summer reminds me of Summer 1989... which brings us back to Batman.

I got nothing against Groot, or baby Groot for that matter. It's a cute moment from a popular movie and I get why they made it.

What I don't get is why it's 1/4, why it's 4 inches and not life sized. It's just another one of those WTF examples that leaves me scratching my head. I get making an exclusive bonus baby Groot in 1/6 for Rocket and Adult Groot. I get making a 1/1 life size baby Groot, I don't get a 1/4 version one. They're really taking the piss. What about the 1/4 Iron Man and Avengers they announced? That 1/4 Terminator? The 1/4 Batman Returns figure? 1/4 ****ing Predator? Those are what, 2-3 years in the making? But no, BABY GROOT. :lol

Granted Baby Groot is easy to produce, especially when it's 4 inches, but why that scale? Why a 1/12 Bat that they're going to eat? Or a planned Compact series Hellicarrier? I don't get it. The Iron Man repaints I get, but these whacky choices are annoying, especially when they occur right out of the gate when other anticipated, previously announced/teased products are just left sitting on the table with little to no info on them.

It couldn't be that expensive. A full-size Baby Groot would likely cost triple digits, or close to it.

Maybe it's a play to the female/non-traditional HT consumer? Maybe it'll be a cute knickknack for a dorm room. Will we see this in Disney Stores?

We could always see Chewie's kids and/or grandkids in the ST...

QS007 - Baby Chewie! :lol

Maybe we should convince Howard to do a Baby Keaton Batman instead. :slap

I think it would be an ok mover. But, I think the dx09 didn't sell as well as you think it did. Online posts like here and Facebook are not really a good way to judge sales.

You stated dx09 sold out in under a year(months). And if I recall correctly it was still available after it released in a few places. Compare that to releases everyone is saying are overkill and when have had to many iron men...iron man often sells out in weeks. And is produced in much larger numbers.

I would order this figure and love to have it. But it's no where near as popular in the hot toys market as iron man. The iron man stuff is hot now, it's fresh, it's got mass media marketing. Where as the burton batman stuff is from a 20yr old movie that has been rebooted multiple times, is about to be rebooted again and has near zero mass media support. So if people are willing to wait a twenty years for the figure, business wise I can see pushing it back to take advantage of the buzz around iron man. I'm not talking about a few online posts, from different sites, which could be by duplicate people(same one posting on ssf is posting on FB under a diff name and so on) but I'm talking about millions of trailer views, and ET tv coverage and magazine covers, and the tonight show, and abc news...tens of millions of people being exposed to the product.

Iron Man and 'fresh' does not compute. ''Current'' would be a better word. That would be a statement of fact. 'Fresh' is a bit subjective, an Iron Man release from Hot Toys certainly doesn't seem fresh to me. The John Matrix Commando figure on the other hand...

Then, explain the need of an Ichabod Crane release. Why?

I get Groot, at least, I kinda do. IM? A given. 1/4 Fett? Hell, I'm getting that.

Crane?

I do get annoyed with all the release's when all we want is 3 figure's from this line and would be happy and silence this returns line. They can pump out EVERY IRONMAN N NOLAN figure but dance around this SO CALLED LINE. I only want the Bat ,THE CAT , THE PENGUIN and the BATWING JET. I'm already broke from 2015 release's might as well release them hot toys and here is my Flippin money. I want my batman to RETURN ALREADY......:impatient:
