So we were guessing it was today for the reveal, next stop is when he wins the academy, then when its not revealed we'll expect it at every upcoming toy show, them Michael Keaton's birthday, then its Christmas, then it'll be a year since he was nominated.

When in reality we'll see it when we are all 70, in retirement homes talking about the good old days and how collectors don't know how they've got it with their moving mouth system and rooted hair on that new young lad who plays Thor.

Keaton has the inside track to win. And I wouldn't be surprised if he does, HT will announce a release date for Returns.

In the meantime...

What this thread needs is more Clown Shape!

I'm sure we will get this before Batman Returns :rotfl

^^^I think that was an old interview. I remember reading it a month or 2 ago.

:lol I don't know why but that looks like Sheldon Cooper under that mask...

I'm curious as to what people think about the new 89 Batman PF compared to the 1/6 figures. Is the 1/4 statue worth it or does the head tilt still bother some?

I don't like that statue. I can't see Keaton at all.

The statue looks just fine. I can actually see Keaton. Probably not as good as the HT one, but then again the cowl and everything else craps all over the HT version (which I own and love).

The HT is just TOO clean.

Head tilt doesn't bother me one bit, that's a nitpick I teally don't understand. Keaton himself said that a head turn was possible.

100% worth it. We don't get enough Keaton collectibles as it is, and this is a FINE piece. Hope they make a Returns PF.

Got both. I love the PF (presence and all), but gotta admit the HT version is PERFECT. And like ladies says: size does mather ;)

I not sure I like the cape covering up the entire statue like that.. seems much better with more of the figure exposed.

Hot Toys '89 Batman

+ best Keaton likeness
+ screen accurate accessories
+ great belt w/ attachments function
+ multiple looks
+ durable

- one piece rubber suit is kinda chunky and inaccurate on make
- PERS panel
- face plates jut out a bit too far
- way too idealized
- textured looking cement chest?

NECA '89 Batman 1/4 and 7"

+ best sculpt
+ accurate torso body armor and symbol
+ great value
+ faithfulness to the actual suit (that cowl seam), nice use of mixed medium
+ that real cowl over Bruce Wayne portrait

- weird elongated torso
- not the best face paint apps
- prone to breakage moreso than the others
- cape too short/not big enough

Sideshow PF '89 Batman

+ that awesome Batcave base
+ cape
+ best sculpted boots (nike swoosh *****!)
+ magnetic bats under the steps
+ nice presentation

- way too idealized
- neck turn
- chunky/lumpy chest ab armor
- dark charcoal grey instead of pure black
- weakest Keaton likeness (possibly due to the heavy paint apps and dark completion)

Not my pic (it's actually Dark Lord Dave's, so i hope he doesn't mind)

As you can see, the cape is a piece of art, and this is how I'm planning to display mine. You can see the armor in all its glory.

Aside from the neck turn, i really don't see how the PF is idealized in any other way.

Hot Toys needs to give the 89 suit the QS001 treatment. I think it's certainly iconic enough to warrant a 1/4 Scale release from them.

They can't even get their previously announced 1:4 Returns Batman out there. :lol

Honestly, I'd be okay with it if they decided to make a 1/4 89 instead. I just think it's the more iconic of the two. I do kind of wonder if they still have the likeness rights for Nicholson. Do they have to pay for those annually, or do they have like a 5 year contract?

I'm kind of surprised that they didn't go Nicholson crazy when they got the license to try to make more money off an expensive likeness.

Did 1/4 Bale sell well? I don't see prices on that guy being out of this world by any means. In fact, he seems to be quite affordable if you look around....

It's such a great figure though. HT's finest IMO.

At least until Optimus Prime comes out.

If I had to wager, I'd say "yes." Like you said, the relatively low secondary market prices indicate that they made a ton, and both the regular and exclusive versions sold out within a reasonable amount of time. He's definitely my next targeted "backlog" release.
