I got the 1/4 001 Bale Batman for $370 last year. Couldn't pass it up at that price.

Nope, not an Ex. unfortunately.

At that price, I didn't really care about a hollow cowl.

I figure when I'm ready, I'll make someone an offer on the EX on eBay. At the end of the day, there's no way in hell that anybody's going to actually pay $200 or $300 for a mask.

Curious -- was it ever announced that they would come up with a 1/4 Bale Batman, or did HT decide in a snap to make one in response to EB and/or to ride the hype of TDKR?

I still hope that HT makes the 1/4 Returns as promised. And if they do make the 1989 Batman in 1/4 I would be very happy. I can imagine how amazing a display it would make having Keaton's 2 costumes lined up with Bale's 2 suits, all in 1/4 scale and on one shelf.

Did they ever actually promise a 1/4th scale version anyways? I don't recall reading that at all to be honest, but I don't see it happening either.

You could say they kinda did, yeah.

Ah. Well either way I don't think that's really something to hold them to and its doubtful it'll happen. If anything a 1/4th Keaton Batman from the first film would make more sense since of the two Burton films its more iconic and has more fans I imagine. The only reason to do a 1/4th Batman from Batman Returns would be if they wanted to do an unmasked sculpt from the end where the cowl is ripped off.

Now that is clear but at the time we had a reasonable expectation that when a company announces something it means they're going to put something out.

Exactly.

It says 1/4. The expectation is that they'll . . . make a 1/4 figure from the license since it states and 1/4. It's not unreasonable since they stated it themselves.

Clearly, Hot Toys doesn't always put out.

(Oh god I've been here too long.) :slap

Does Keaton's Oscar nomination make it more likely that we'll get a Returns Batman? If he wins then renewed interest in his career might make Hot Toys feel a new Keaton Batman would sell better.

Nah.

Maybe if he's in a future Marvel Studios movie or Episode 8.

Yeah but even so, Hot Toys has really always placed more focus on 1/6th over 1/4th. So while they may have pondered the idea of a 1/4th scale figure at one point I'm in no way surprised that nothing came of it. It seems like there was a period where they were thinking of doing more stuff in 1/4th scale (figures from The Avengers and Predator come to mind) but they didn't happen either. I'm wondering if they just found that more of their target market was interested in 1/6th or what.

Hello…My Name is Bo (audience shout “Hi Bo”)

And I would like to say that I am no longer interested in the Batman Returns line.
