And you guys all lap it up :monkey3

Well said! With the exception of my posts that's probably the only truthful thing said in this entire forum. People here keep saying "duh I don't understand...where is my Batman? Whats with all the Marvel figure?!" When its actually very simple, its too simple...

Hot Toys' got us by the ball s. They know we're already frustrated, but they also know that most of us won't take anything other than a 1/6 (and/or 1/4) Batman Returns figure with the Hot Toys logo on it.

Is it possible that after Birdman, Keaton doesn't want to release his likeness as Batman?

Nonsense. He is still Batman and proud of it.

Michael Keaton - recent interview said:
Having played Batman and being very proud of playing Batman. I never back off that. The idea was bold, interesting, and cool when Tim made it. I didn’t really put it together, Edward did [a superhero movie] too. I just go to work.
When I took the original, I was unfamiliar with comic books. I wasn’t a comic book reader. [Reading the script he thought], this isn’t the way that I see the character but am glad to read it. Then I met Tim the next day, I’m saying [Batman] is this and this, and he was nodding in agreement. So I asked, are they going to make this? Tim said, “I don’t know. Let’s find out.”

Also, check out this interesting interview:

Yeah, Mayor, it's not that I disagree with your attitude and what you're saying but I do find it strangely misdirected at the people in this thread, most of whom are just like you, pissed off at the Marvel-a-thon and Hot Toys 'strategy' about this license. I don't know why you're directing your ire at people in this thread. Seems like you should be laying into people in the actual Marvel section or perhaps the hype bandwagoning newbs in the Nolan Batman threads, but not people in here. Everyone in here has been saying for a long time exactly what you're saying and you don't seem to realise :dunno

Yep...no one else is telling the truth. Everyone is lieing. The guys saying it won't come..lied. The guys saying it will come, lied. They guys saying its marvels fault, lied. The guys saying its Star Wars fault, lied. The guys saying its no ones fault, lied. The guys saying its complex and we don't know, lied. But themayor, man he's our savior. He knows it all and the only one that speaks the truth. *** hat. Come one man.

Man I haven't visited this thread in so long. When I saw it was bumped I had a glimmer of hope. Then I saw all the despair again. :slap :(

Every once in a while, I've got to take a step back. I was thinking today, and it's crazy to me that I'm saying stuff like "well, I think they could release an improved 89 Batman," or how I read people talking about how unfair it is that we can't see Returns, and it kind of saddens me, because I think that, once these things become reality, they become marginalized, in some ways, and they lose that "magic." I think we sometimes lose sight of just how amazing this hobby has been over the years.

10 years ago, this was the stuff that dreams were made of:

Sometimes I love looking at these pics, because I can kind of recapture that sense of awe that I had the first time I saw them.

All true. I've personally lost sight of what I have from time to time. Those releases were mind blowing and I've taken them for granted after a few years of owning them. Not long ago, all of those were pipe dreams that resided on wish list posts. There was nothing quite like the day DX 09 and DX 08 went up for order at the same time.

Still, what's going on with this Returns line is BS. I don't think anyone here is unjustified with their complaints and frustration. 3 years is pretty long for an action figure release and that's about as long as those releases above have been around. There shouldn't have been a Returns announcement in 2012, that was way too early. Howard Chan shouldn't have been like "Batman and Penguin will be here in December" only to follow up with, "no plans for Penguin" two years later.

They say patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait, but man, three years for ONE doll (I think most people have already written off Catwoman and Penguin) is a bit much. It'd be different if we were just being obnoxious and demanding a line that was never even hinted at with posts like "hey, you guys did 1989 Batman product, make Returns". We didn't. Hot Toys decided to pursue it. They made the "1/6, 1/4" announcement, they said coming soon in late 2012. They said Batman and Penguin would be shown in December a couple of years ago. That was them, not us. I don't think we're acting entitled or spoiled.

Oh, no, I absolutely agree that it's a load of crap, the "it saddens me" part was more in regard to how quickly those releases are forgotten, when the next big thing comes along, and I, myself, am guilty of it. As much as I hate this wait, and I do agree that it's totally unjustified, it still amazes me sometimes that we're actually in a position where figures from Batman Returns are now the most anticipated thing on our list.

Like I said, thinking back to when you first joined these boards, how high were they, on most people's lists? In that regard, it's weird to me, because it's kind of like a glass half empty and half full, all at once. I'm pissed that Howard keeps stringing us along with his bull****, but I'm grateful that we're in a position where we've had so many of our needs met that Returns is now at the top of our "most anticipated" lists.

(Peruses the past few pages, notices that TheMayor has once again dropped a little scat and has been pwned. Still no word on this figure. Wash, rinse, repeat.)

Yeah, perspective is important. :exactly: But HT have totally mishandled this license.

Next thing you know, the OSR interview will have Howard saying "Sorry, Batman Returns license has expired, no plans for renewing the license."

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me. Howard's been a colossal dildo about this whole thing.

How many Caps are there now? Jeesh.. not unexpected though. I would add both T1 terminators to that dream list up there and RoboCop. Still waiting for 84 Reese, T1 endo, Rocky, Rambo..hell anything cool from the classics.

Oh, and the Returns Batman of coarse.
