I think Burton's movies were more important from a batman and genre perspective. The darkness of the storytelling was original in its day for such a mainstream pop culture phenomenon. Without Batman '89, there is no Nolan trilogy. That being said, I think the Nolan movies are better from a batman mythos view, as well as having better overall rewatchability.

While I agree with most of what you say, for me the most re watchable are the Burton films, I can watch those over and over, and have done.

Burton Batman films stick to a linear narrative. The films are individual and the narrative is confined to its respective film.

Nolan Batman films attempt to tell a longer narrative over the course of three films - something that wasn't ever overtly present in any of the four previous films.

On one day I think Burton's film are the best on another I think it's Nolan's.

Either way, you can analyse them in extreme detail.

There is a lot of critical analysis for both franchises - Batman Returns has been described as anti-Semitic; with the idea that the Penguin is Jewish:

And this analysis of The Dark Knight compares it to Shakespeare and how they both use a five act structure:

89 batman was a shot in the dark. It was not expected to hit as good as it did. Then Returns was made cause of the previous hit. As of why i think they are not story related. Company more interested in making another box office hit. That could have been made better yes.

Nolan had three batman movies in mind when started on Begins. Right?

Am I the only one that watches batman and robin? I don't really hate on any movies, I hate it when people are closed minded and just stick to one generation, personally each batman movie has a memorable moment to me, doesn't matter what area it is all of them are awesome to me. The Joker commercial in the 1989 batman, the batmobile going rogue in batman returns, two face and riddler destroying the batcave in batman forever, when poison ivy arrives to gotham city via the charity ball and batman and robin are fighting about her, batman's training in batman begins, joker killing rachel and two face being made in the dark knight, and pretty much the scene where bane escapes from the plane. I love everything about the 1966 movie.

Since I am a bit late in collecting I started halfway with the batman dark knight trilogy hot toys items, but I plan to buy every batman piece that would come out, batmobiles, batman, 1989 and returns, I hope to see the Batmobile from batman forever and batman and robin just to see how HT could pull off the lights, and the spinning light inside the engine of the forever batmobile. Even then I hope to see Batman and Robin's Ice suit near the end of the movie. Then my bucket list would be complete.

No. In all of his interviews, he states that he was never making them in order to produce sequels.

He states that Batman Begins was its own story and he was happy if other directors made a sequel to it in the future.

He even states he made the Dark Knight without looking to make a third and that's why he killed Dent at the end instead of carrying his story on into another film.

I believe he stated that if he had a 3rd movie in mind at the time, Dent would have not died and would have played a role in Rises. I think initial scripts had rumors that Joker was going to play a huge role in Rises actually, but then Ledger died and all mentions of Joker were removed, thus, an entirely new script would have been made.

Either way, this is very true. Though only a few things make me question if Nolan ever had sequels in mind with Begins and TDK, like the Joker card/hints at the end of Begins

I'm closer to 40 than 30. I remember watching reruns of the Adam West Batman TV show with my mother and brothers and enjoying it. Burton's 89 Batman was the first summer blockbuster that I realized was a blockbuster, a big deal, a seminal moment in popular culture. And I remember sitting in the theater watching The Dark Knight, a grin plastered on my face, and thinking to myself, "God damn, this is awesome!" Long story short, all three eras are pretty special to me.

I wish these DX releases would come with the regular black oval stands as well.

Those big clunky DX bases aren't always a practical display option.

They're not practical at all. I like that they're square which gives wider room for the feet, but at the same time they take
up more space too. I don't care for the light feature much either which I think runs up the price some.

Yeah probably agreed with you guys. The light feature in particular is something I never use.

I don't mind if they come wtih BOTH.. but at least include the basic one too.

They've done it with Bespin Luke - & non DX releases like Reeve Superman, MK4 Stark etc.

I think this will be my first Hot Toys purchase. I fear that this may lead me to down a path that will require me to get the 89 one and the Joker.

:goodpost::exactly:

We're the same age and I share your exact sentiment. All three eras hold a special place in my heart. :duff
