Those are great pics! Love the shark gnawing on his foot. That hair is distractingly bad though. In some of the pics it looks just as phony as the wigs from colonial times.

Most of the figure looks excellent though. Love the box and the base!

These pics in the last couple of pages really make the figure and the display look fantastic.

I too am a little hesitant in calling that rooted hair "good looking" but perhaps if pushed towards the back of the head and flattened down further, it may work.

The thing that bothers me is the oversized nature of the hat where it sits on the head -- looks like there's way too much room.

I like the rooted hair. I'd like to see how the DX 6 looks with some synthetic hair, since it only goes on top of the pony tail and a little bit on the left side. That's an easy custom job.

Yeah I like the rooted hair too, i look at it more like his hairs greasy or damp and not as individual strands.

I love the figure as a whole and the base looks awesome, even better now the water isnt split on the front anymore. To me its the best Hot Toys figure ever made and im really excited to have and see him for real.

It would be great if they expanded the line further with more characters from any of the films. If they make another Jack I’d be excited about a young Jack from this movie in the flashback when he first becomes captain.

I have the DX 6 and I think the new one looks great. I think the serious face looks awesome and I prefer it over the DX 6, which I never liked to be honest. However, I prefer the DX 6 smiley face. There's something off about the new smiley face, or maybe he just looks older?

I think the smirk head is on par with the DX06 version, with both, lighting and angle really make a difference. Below are some examples of good and bad with each.

In the examples below, it doesn't look awful but certainly not AS good as it can under the right circumstances.

The thing that bothers me is the oversized nature of the hat where it sits on the head -- looks like there's way too much room.

I applaud Hot Toys for wanting to DX the hat using a faux leather material instead of sculpted plastic, but Jack's hat is such a distinct shape and such a key part of the character and the DX hat's just fall very short of capturing the right look.

I’m actually one of the few who strongly dislikes the DX06 smirking sculpt. Hardly looks like Depp at all. The lips are all wrong as well as the shape of the the ‘stache. I’ve scebe a bunch of resculpts where ppl remove the facial hair and there’s hardly any Depp in that sculpt aside from the nose and jaw line. To me, the DX06 smirking sculpt as barely any better than the AWE sculpt from years ago and definitely not better than DMC smirk sculpt. This DX15 smirk is the only one that comes close to the accuracy of the UU sculpt

I just don't see it.

Maybe the new one just looks older...or something. There's just something I don't like. I always thought the DX 6 actually looked younger than Depp did in OST, which I didn't mind because he looked like he did in the first 3 films. I think the new one looks more like an older Depp. Fuller face and maybe the eyebrows are a bit lower, and the lips a little less full. I'm not sure.

Both have their merits.

I still have to get the POTC plaques on them but here's two different colors I was playing around with. I think the darker one might work better for the Pearl deck but the lighter one has more character.

Impressive, but I would suggest if possible, paint one with spatters of black like the wood got burnt to get the look of the Pearl deck.

I'm another who never cared for the Smirk look on DX06. Mine has remained in the box since day one. It's going to be crazy when the comparison shots of both new and old Sparrow start to appear. I love my DX06 but this one will blow it out of the water. I don't have the strength to Double Dip with this one but congrats to all who missed out on the first and getting the second chance!! Love the return of the DX and the foam insert!!

Whats crazy is that this figure is over $120 more than the original DX06 which I purchased for $220 CAN when release. The DX15 is $342 CAN + shipping.

I wish it came with a regular base though.
