I'm so pumped by this. I've been wanting a Terminator but couldn't justify aftermarket prices. He was one of the First HT I ever saw back in 2014, but I couldn't afford it at the time. So excited! Cool that we're getting an OG Predator too.

Hot Toys has made some amazing improvements on other characters over the years and no doubt they could improve on this. But if it ends up being more or less a straight reissue, it's still a solid piece. The DX13 is the oldest 1/6 figure I have in my collection right now and I still love it and have it displayed prominently.

Since the logo on the rsvp email is for T1 hopefully this means we may get both versions

I wouldn't think too hard about the look of this piece. When the new '89 Batman was announced, it was clearly just a DX09 that had been pulled out of the mothballs and put on display. By the time it went up for preorder a year later, it had been significantly revised.

Of course, you never know with HT (see Batman Begins), but I suspect this will be revised if it ever actually goes up for pre-order.

Exactly the right way to look at these con figures. The announcement is when we see the features and prototype. These aren't prototypes. Final product could also be revised

I see the same criticism in the Jungle Predator thread.

Wow, this and predator. It's like HT is finally giving me what I want.

I had these when they came out, but I was the typical collector who would buy everything and keep it in a box, with the usual mentality "I can't miss out" while living in a 1 bedroom apt, hoping one day I would be able to get a house with plenty of space. It turned out that "hoping" was a horrible, horrible plan, and I ended up broke. Let me tell you, selling everything was rough, really rough, but I was proud of myself.

I was able to get out of debt and eventually adult the hell up and set priorities in place. House>Everything else.

This is one of the figures I missed the most. Well, this and the Robo-Murphy pack. Hopefully, that one is in the works as well with a newly designed ED without a ****** dome.

Same for Predator, hell yeah!

What is the likelihood of these guys doing a 1/6 Fatboy? That Tamiya kit (that I also sold) seemed very, very time-consuming to do.

It's been 10 years since this release... Surely things should improve?

Getting that feeling they have an Artisan Arnold ready for when Inarrt announces their own...

HT should be updating that sculpt..in some ways...IF people don't Demand, they never will.

Oh, don't get me wrong - my enduring appreciation of the old figure doesn't mean I condone HT lazily rehashing a decade and half old figure.
They have the means to improve on the old one and they have no excuse not to.

Just saying the old figure still holds up.

Still doesn't change that HT are being utterly lazy/greedy/creatively bankrupt.

I’ll be surprised if this is the Terminator they’re teasing. It looks like an obvious placeholder to me. I mean, the RSVP is just a title. Even the weathering on the jacket tells me this is just a DX13 they pulled out so I’m really looking forward to the preorder to see what we’re actually getting. I was really hoping for a T1 figure for the 40th but I’ll take what I can get and I don’t have a T2 Arnie.

I mean, if they can basically just rerelease the DX09 with only some new faceplates, paint apps, cape, and stand, then I don’t see why they also wouldn’t just rerelease the DX13 with, let’s say, new paint apps, stand, seamless arm, and USB plug for the eye. Maybe even real leather?

I think the KA Kim sculpt still holds up, personally, but it’s always nice to see major improvements if they are going to redo a figure. I almost bought a DX13 a few weeks ago for a great price, but in the back of my head was just thinking “this is probably getting 2.0’d at some point, might as well just wait it out.”

The problem is, I’m starting to think that about new figures too and I’m becoming more hesitant with my purchases. “Eh, the Pattinson Batman looks good, but I’m sure they’ll redo it at some point and fix all the proportions (I can just imagine their graphic now comparing it to the new and better 2.0). Eh, the ROTJ Vader looks good, but I’m sure they’ll redo it at some point with a nylon suit. Eh, the new John Wick looks great, but man do Hot Toys love Keanu Reeves, they’ll certainly do an artisan John Wick at some point.”

Yeah, I get what you mean - its now become part of my "should I buy" monologue to myself: "how likely is it that this figure is done by another company/gets a 2.0/has an extended release/has a 3rd party alternative etc"

I’m so stoked on this. The figure they’re displaying is for sure the DX13 but they’re just showing what they got coming. Once the legit promo pics release from HT, I’m sure we’ll see a more updated version compared to this one. Hopefully it gets announced soon!

If you do that with Terminator you will wait an eternity, it’s rare seeing figures from Hot Toys.

Such reasoning works with Iron Man and to a degree Star Wars. But I would never think so with characters like Han, OT Chewie, Ben Kenobi etc.

DX13 is still in its prime, like the Tech Noir Arnie. Police shootout is quite nice still too. MMS117 not so much, get DX10 if you want a clean T2 Arnie. I just hope they won’t make some silly changes and label them upgrades if they are not…
