Probably a second figure, by which time they will have acquired the rights. :D

Eddie looks pretty good. I'll only buy it if they release a Vincent Price!!!

Is that what happened with the Superman Returns 2 in 1 Superman - they didn't secure the likeness rights for Brandon Routh? Because although the Superman head looked phenomenal it didn't look anything like Routh.

It does, maybe not 100% but it does look like him. I have seen the movie 100 times already. How can you see no Depp in this:

...He must have ^^^^ in his eyes...either that or his glasses aren't thick enough:monkey1
Darren, Creech, 8th etc have made some sound observations about the overall sculpt, licence rights etc, and i'm SURE that Hot Toys and others have their peeps scanning forums for their market research and feedback about these prototypes...they'd be mad not to. However, like i said way back, there is this minority amongst us who really let the side down when their whining gets to a whole new low degenerating into a b itch fest...Am I wrong?:monkey3

I personally love this figure! Who cares if the sculpt is off? I think its an excellent representation of the spirit of the character...(Medusa hair not withstanding!)

I see a Depp likeness in that pic. Not perfect but I definitely see him there. And besides Depp as Edward Scissorhands doesn't even look like the Depp we are familiar with.

As for not making a figure if they couldn't acquire the rights I have to disagree. I'd still buy some of the Predator 1 figures even if they couldn't get the likeness rights. If there is a demand and money to be made why not? I'm sure there are Edward fans out there who will get this even without a perfect likeness.

What's with the Jay Leno chin?

Likeness aside, the figure still looks great.
It is sad that with the talent at Hot Toys, this
is as good of an Edward as we'll get for the
time being. I hope they get the chance to make
a screen accurate Depp/Edward likeness but,
as I said, this one still looks enough like him.
Besides, with the way a couple of the non likeness
Alien heads went...

...just be glad they didn't sculpt him with a mustache.
;)

Because Joel Schumacher made it? What kind of homophobic crap is that:rolleyes:??? Joel Schumacher is awsome for making The lost Boys, one of my favorite movies of all time. He did a great job.

Holy farkin monkies, it was a joke, get over it. Me and Spliff do this all the time.

There's being complimentary and critical and there's 'Whining' Sorry to offend but in my humble opinion it falls into the latter with SOME of the posts NOT all...Peace out Shell

Waaaaaaaaaaaa......I don't like his hair! I don't want it cause his hair sucks! It's icky! I don't like it! Waaaaaaaaaaaa!

Now that's whining. :lol

I love the figure.......but I don't care for the hair at all. Too bad you can't push it down flatter. :D

I think this one is the closest to Depp of all the pictures posted. I love the belt buckle.

I'm not reading any whining, but what's the problem with acquiring the rights prior to going through all the trouble to make any figure. That reason just doesn't wash.
If they said, Oh we aren't going to pay for rights, it cuts into our profit margin, so here's Johnny, then I could understand.
Here's an orange.

and here's another that looks just like it.

LMFAO!!! That was good! :lol

I agree about the hair. The more I look at it the more I don't care for it. The rest of the figure is amazing.

Now where are those hi res shots?

I do wonder why that seems to be a recurrent theme with HT, they make figures but don't secure rights. In this case he's close enough that I'm not bothered... probably helps that even Edward doesn't look 100% like Depp.

Either way I'm stoked for the figure and I will definitely be getting one :rock

Wonder if we'll get some torn-up pants, shirt and suspenders? Or if that will be released as a 2nd figure...

It could have to do with money. Wouldn't they have to pay Depp for his rights? Or give him a cut?

That would be my guess, either he wouldn't consent or they decided not to seek them and save $$$. I'm glad though that they went with a very close sculpt instead of something ridiculous like Kane.

I hope this is true. I'd definitely get an Edward figure if HT made one.

If HT was able to get Depp's likeness for POTC, I don't see why they couldn't for this. I don't really see why people are saying the sculpt is an approximation. It looks more like Depp than any of the other sculpts I've seen. I mean, this is Medicom's abomination:

Yes, it could always be worse :lol

I would guess that WB (for whatever reason) didn't secure Depp's likeness for the film and HT either chose not to pursue it or it wasn't granted.
