Worst Joe figure.....ever
Like the figure; just not at that price!
Worst Joe figure.....ever
I still really dig this guy. Even if the movie sucks (chances are it won't be great) this is just a cool looking interpretation of a pretty iconic cartoon/toy/comic book character IMO. And again, Sideshow has taken some real liberties with some of their releases. In that sense I don't really see this as all that different from what they did with, say, Firefly or Crimson Cobra Commander.
I think the figutre looks cool. But it simply does not seem like Snake Eyes to me.
To be honest...it looks more like a Power Ranger, to me.

I loved GI Joe as a kid and collected them from the very beginning, but I steered clear of the Sideshow line just cos I didn't want to get involved with yet another line (I'm focused on Indy and SW with some Marvel sprinkled in).
And now this figure comes out. Looks great, IMO. Like you said, I think it's a great interpretation of the character--much better than Sideshow's two attempts. I am extremely tempted. The only thing this lacks are the bountiful accessories that Sideshow spoils us with.
The 2 interpretations are closer to the original source, than this one.
True, but some collectors don't just go for accuracy alone. While SSC's Snake Eyes are indeed closer to the source material than this, I personally find this figure more life-like than SSC's, as far as the proportions and anatomical form are concerned.
Also, this Snake-Eyes figure is based on the movie Retaliation that is basically inspired by the 80's classic characters. And this figure is pretty accurate to its source material, that is Retaliation.
I may not be as elite or as hardcore a Joe fan as some of you are, but I can say that I have regularly watched the cartoon, collected the classic 3.75" figures, and have a few of SSC's Joes but I'm open to changes to any iconic character's appearance. If I don't like it, just like how I find most of Jim Lee's re-designs of most of DC characters for the new 52, I won't expect everyone else to feel the same, nor would I force them to feel the same by being repetitive.
You are not as hardcore Joe fan, that is why you dont understand. If you like the figure fine, more power to you. Im not saying not to like it. But, when people make statement like this is "iconic look' with the movie not even beign out, or this is a better interpretation than SS's, when the fact is that their's is closer to the original source (original 3/4 figure), ofcourse I'm going to say something.
I'm not a hardcore fan but this really is the definitive iconic look
