Someone e-mail those lists of fixes to Hot Toys. If you catch them, they will listen

I certainly hope they make these changes, as people have indicated. I'm no expert, so I wouldn't have noticed a lot of the differences, but I don't like the idea of it being so inaccurate. The being said, my biggest beef is still the colour. Hopefully they change that at least... then again, even if they don't, I bet they do another release later on in black.

Something else, and I don't think a lot of you Alien purists would necessarily agree with me... but the only time I've ever noticed the skull underneath the dome was when I started seeing Alien collectibles and statues. Although I'm sure there are times when it appeared in the movie and I just didn't notice, it always appeared shiny black to me because of the lighting. I almost wish they'd downplay the "realistic suit" aspect to me so it'd appear like it did in the movie, but I suppose I could achieve that with proper lighting...

No they won't.
I sent them reference pics of both the Giger alien and the dragon, and they still came out with those "artistic interpretations"...

I mean, what is the point of this line? It's called MOVIE Masterpieces, not X-Sculptor Masterpiece.
These things should be frigging accurate, otherwise, drop the Movie part.

That's awesome.

Edit: Devil666, would you care to do another pic in which the skull eyes aren't visible at all?

I actually like seeing the skull eyes! so for all you alien freaks out there...how does the alien see with no eyes?

If this were made by Sideshow anyone pointing out these inaccuracies would be immediately attacked and insulted. :rotfl

That's because Sideshow staff also read this forum, but because they aren't humble like Asians, they hit back in defense of their brand even though complaints are generally legit. Hot Toys takes a more honorable route and takes the criticism in silence and does what it can to fix the figures. I bow to Hot Toys on that one.

I'd also fix the jaw tendons.....but other wise, thats what I want.

Wish they were clear. They should have done them like NECA did: clear and they just slid up into the head instead of being stretchy painted rubber.

I would have shat myself if this had been the first pic I'd ever seen of Hot Toys attempt at the Alien.

Interestingly, this figure looks like HT went a Medicom route and made all the pieces out of rubber, not joint separation at the knees and elbows, at least that can be seen, and doesn't seem like a shine to the arms and legs being made of hard plastic like the past Aliens.

I was just thinking about that. In some ways, this figure actually should have been hard plastic in some areas instead of all rubber like you mentioned. I'm sure that would have created other ugly isses though like how the hands blend at the wrist and such.

That's one of the things I always liked about the original Alien, and something that I think Scott thought would add to the mystery, i.e. how the hell does it see? I always imagined it to be like a huge compound eye, that could see all around!

Since you never see the skull eyes in the film, I'm always wanting to have them hidden, but I can totally understand why people like the idea of having them visible. I do like the nod to Kane passing on human traits to his "son".

Completely agree! I always thought the smooth part of the dome was the "eye", an organic sensor of some alien kind.

The fact that it didn't have eyes, just that nasty mouth, really made that thing scary...and alien.

Absolutely. Then there's the "mechanical" aspects which are even more weird. It's amazing how subsequent designs totally missed this point.

Anyway, two seconds fiddling with brightness and contrast to get a quick and dirty non-transparent dome:

I'd buy two.

Why do you assume that aliens have to "see"?
There are plenty of creatures on earth itself that do not have any eyes whatsoever. (think deep sea)
Aliens might simply "feel" their surroundings (pressure, temperature, electrostatic, etc). Who knows.
I like the mystery.

Looking at the pics of the Alien, the front head and especially the big jaw is a major let down. Definate thumbs down for me.

Well exactly Facebox. I don't assume it sees, it's just one area that's fun to speculate over.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I just really love the fact that aliens don't have eyes. That, the bio-mechanical aspects, and acid for blood are what makes them my favorite creature design. Oh, and the whole life cycle thing too.
Oh, and the Queen....oh and.... (I can go on forever) ;)
