Hot Toys Giger Alien

I gotta believe the HT Alien that will ultimately be revealed will be a much closer approximation of Giger's horror.

What specifically is bothering you with the figure so much right now?

I have a feeling this is pretty much what will get, probably a more muted paint job as the Aliens tend to come out softer than the prototype.

You guys are nuts. Face and color are wrong, but the shoulders and the rest of the head are dead right.

I'll need to see it from some more angles, but the most important part is the mouth area, and that's totally wrong. Also, the skull eyes look nothing like the human skull used in the film prop. They've given it a bizarre "Grrrr!" look.

I know a lot of people are probably dissappointed in the off qualities, I probably would be too, but thankfully I had about as low expectations with this figure as you could get, I'm delighted with the end result.

As badass looking as this figure is, and in my opinion the most badass and ferocious of all HT Alien figures, it is also the least accurrate, and I had a sick feeling that the Giger original Alien would be more a creative interpretation like the ALIENS warrior, so to go completely the other way and be as close to Giger's design as it is, I'm overjoyed, and REALLY hoping they revisit the ALIENS figure and plop an improved shape ALIENS head on this new Giger Alien body and give us a proper ALIENS warrior figure, because on top of not looking accurrate, it's also the weakest built one they've ever done.

It looks nothing like Arnie from T2...waay to skinny, how could sideshow fail so bad....all from a few bad pics

Then wait people actually started getting the statue and now its one of the "best PF's around".


We need to wait for official pics and specs before gettin all crazy. I know enough about lighting to tell that it looks brown because of bad photography and bad lighting. I am sure HT will do great with this monumental figure.

I'll say one thing though.

The raised collarbones and the shape of the head look more like a "believable creature" than the neca.

As for the paint, it needs to be darkened or smoked over but it is actually a very nice paintjob. Lots of details and airbrushing that isn't there on the neca.

I think they're going for a hyper realistic look and that's why there's brown in it.

It is too much brown though.

As for the dome, the shape looks perfect on the top, the flare is much more 1979 accurate (pronounced) than on the neca, but where it joins the head it looks all weird. Also it looks like there too many tubes running along the head.

The neck is nice, not neccesarily stunt suit accurate but looks more believeable than a thin neck like on the movie suit and the neca.

The mouth is all wrong though, and the gums & teeth look wrong too.

I haven't gone through this whole thread yet so apologies if this has been asked but why do hot toys often make their aliens brown?? I can understand the dog alien but this guy from the first movie should be black. I been waiting for this, as have a lot of people i imagine, and i do think it looks awesome, but i just dont get why its brown.

Yes I will. As that is the only issue with it I have. If it wasnt the most important part of the Alien, I wouldnt care.

The mouth and the skull for me... fix those and I'll be completely satisfied. It's frustrating, because the rest looks so damn good.

I'm hoping that's not the final paint scheme. The actual paint apps looks good it's just that overly brown color. Maybe it's just the camera/lighting.

Mouth and gums look wrong too, but I think it's probably to accomodate the working inner tongue.

Otherwise it looks good. Still I'm waiting for more pics before I commit.

You know, some have mentioned the body and mouth are off, but the body looks fine to me whether it's accurate or not. So for me, ignorance is bliss if they'll just correct the paint scheme.
