Ok, I just picked this up and I'm disappointed I didn't earlier. I really like Groot and Rocket and so I wanted this and put in a pre-order deposit and everything for the Sideshow version hoping they would change Rocket's face, but it was getting closer and closer to release but they never showed any changes to his face in the official pics, and so I just cancelled my order and never looked back at it, or this thread to see all the reactions.
Only in the last few weeks did I see this version of Rocket out of the box, and he actually has a different face to the promotional pics. They changed his face to make him look better and more close to how he actually looks but they still have got the old face as part of the promo pics?????
Anyway, I was able to get one of the Sideshow exclusives on ebay (with the baby armless Groot), without paying too much extra and I'm glad I have it now, but they really should have let us know they improved Rocket's face earlier on and updated the images. As then so I wouldn't have cancelled my order back then only to then find myself having to get it already open from some reseller way down the line.
Oh and whilst Rocket's face is improved I would have liked if he was able to have at least two expressions like Groot.

They still have the ancient proto pics of HT Han Solo everywhere even though they fixed that sculpt quite a bit ages before release. So I think the precendent is set. Once the promo pics are bought and paid for, that's all we're gonna see. At least for some of the HT lines.

Man I really hope Hot Toys uses real fur on the next Rocket also. I love how the fur came out on Chewy. If they decide to go this route then this would be a must buy for me.

Question for anyone that has Rocket on a different base. I am thinking about putting Rocket on a different base and putting him in a different case all together. What base is small enough to fit him? I wanted to use this:

looks too tall and too big. lowest setting on the grabber you'll be choking rocket! lol
i'm honestly surprised more people don't use these type stands. they are crazy modular and allow for all types of configurations. plus they are clear and are much less distracting/gawdy than other stands. i personally don't use stands as they detract from the look in my opinion... but i've used these for other things that require a stand no matter what and they work perfect!

Initial thoughts? I like him but his stand is annoying. For reasons unbeknownst to me, I can't get the pole to slide down the clip thingie all the way, even when using a screwdriver so when he's on a stand he's kind of stuck in a flyingesque position. Not a fan on how easily mine's tail pops off but it's not super loose and constantly off, just a little too easy. Sculpt looks better upclose as do the whiskers. The volume 2 one is probably better but this one is fine. He didn't cost much and he's not a super fave or grail, just a fun one that didn't cost much that adds variety to my collection. Still...for his price, I could've used another gun or something.
Bootleg Groot figures have been around for a while now (see post #3250 for a comparison). Groot is one of my absolute favorite figures, and a big part of that is due to the paintwork/sculpting, which won't show up as well in a bootleg. Still, it looks about 70% accurate to the HT version, which isn't too bad for the price.

It might but the fur is a darker shade than the old body.

Yeah. I had the choice of getting the bootleg or getting a regular for twice the price. I chose the regular. **** Bootlegs. I get the money issue. But when I want some thing, I save however long it takes and watch for deals.
