Yeah better late than never :) I've seen the prices go up for Guardians since I managed to get Star Lord a couple years back.
The rush to get big Groot will be on. Rocket is easy to find and will be getting a new release regardless. Prioritize Groot; I got mine for about $140 shipped a year ago.

Thanks for the tip :D Are there any good sites to order them off? I'm looking on eBay right now..

BBTS, like Medusoid said, is solid especially if you're not in California, this avoiding the tax. Their price is about par for the course. There's one in eBay right now that's around $100 ending in a day. I would try for that.

Why would the prices go through the roof. Wont there be new figures for the next movie? And if those are better, wont the old ones drop? They're practically giving away Black Widow and Hawkeye from AoU, cause the new ones are coming.

Because:
Groot isn't big in the next film. He's tiny, like foot and a half tiny
Spoilers, in case people are staying in the dark.

Damn, I have to get him then.
Good luck man!

However, for merchandising it makes sense to show a fully grown Groot by the end of the film.
I would expect they intend to do this. But with that being said, that's a really fast time for him to go back to normal. I think this movie takes place within a year or so later? I mean I have no clue how fast Groot grows but if he's only that much bigger by then it'll be hard to justify it. And Gunn doesn't seem to want to do things just to do them with GOTG. But marketing is marketing....

The movie actually takes place just a few months after the events of the first one. This was revealed at SDCC and it makes this movie unique from all the other Marvel films. Personally, I don't think it would make sense for Groot to be back to full size that quickly, but I'm sure Disney/Marvel would force it for marketing purposes as you guys have been saying. I hope they didn't interfere with the film too much though. I think Gunn is doing an absolutely fantastic job with this franchise and I'd hate to see his work compromised as a result.

Thanks, was trying to resist but saw a good deal lol, now I can't wait to line them up with their gotg 2 versions altho it's still very far away!
