GOT MINE! Overall I am pretty satisfied with it. Only a few things that really bring this down.

The battery for the chest/head light were pretty close to dead outta the box. I can only see a dim light when I take IM to a dark room. Gotta get replacements right away.

The torso articulation is pretty useless.

The right leg calf flap doesn't close completely, the little mechanical details in it are not done right, which jabs at the flap and not letting it close completely like the left leg.

The fist are a joke, what kinda sculpt is that? midget hands?

An overall sense of fragileness, not sure what it is about it, but I am not sensing the usual sturdiness (with HT) that should be there when I pose him. Hopefully there isn't any weak joints.

And lastly, after EB's jack bauer, HT's tony looks pretty pedestrian. bulging gold fish eye balls and very plasticky skin tone. Not HT's fault, EB is just so far ahead on the HS and paint op than anyone right now.

I had the same problem with the batteries, make sure you remove the battery cover and check if they were installed correctly before switching them out for new batteries.

The torso is fairly tight, but it will move... If you're daring enough.

Are the fists really smaller in comparison to the other hands? If you look closely the fists are the same size, especially if you note the fingers.

Where are the batteries for the lights located, and what kind of batts does this fig take?

Just got my Mark III from Sideshow. This is my first Hot Toys piece, so forgive me if this has already been answered in this thread, but how do you activate the light in his chest plate and eyes? I see the switches for his hands, but nothing for the chest plate. Also the light on the right hand does not light up when the switch is on. Any suggestions, or is my piece dead in the water? Thanks again for any answers.

Under the right (his right) flaps on his back.

Thanks, bud. I worked out the issue with his right hand light as well; I didn't notice that there were plastic battery disconnectors (whatever they're called) for the arms as well. A little strange, as the left arm lit up even with the plastic.

Pretty awesome figure all around, but it seems really fragile. Taking out the wrist missle for the first time, the thing actually POPPED out and shot across my desk like it was spring loaded or something. The elbow pad(?) on the same arm fell off and I had to snap it back in. I'm afraid to move it around; I don't want anymore pieces falling off.

I finally got my much belated birthday present today, my Iron Man MK III.
Hot Toys did a fantastic job of translating this to 1/6 scale. The engineering of all these tiny pieces to work as a whole and it's assembly was a daunting task that they somehow managed to pull off. The lighting system is genius; extremely bright, easily replaceable batteries, works exactly as it did in the film, and maintains the articulation and aesthetic of the armor perfectly.

There are a few negatives though. I wish the red finish was a bit more uniform as some pieces appear darker then others, that the moving armor for the gauntlet rockets worked a bit better, and that the torso articulation worked better (I can only get the waist to turn). Everything else works perfectly though.

I also noticed that Robert Downey Jr's head is very under scaled, but this is probably because Hot Toys wanted the head to look like it could fit in the helmet. I just hope that it doesn't look goofy on a True Type in that Tony Stark Hot Toys suit set (I gotta order one soon).

Overall it's another home run from Hot Toys! :D

This guy is an amazing looking figure. I'm glad he's one of the few 1:6 scale figures I've invested in. A lot of people mention that they consider him to be fragile; he doesn't really feel fragile to me persay, but he does have lots of paper-thin flaps and panels that move/fall off and that may be contributing to a sense of frailness.

While I knew he wasn't firetruck red like he appeared in the prototype pics ten months ago, I was still surprised at how deep of a red/maroon he is in person. He probably could have stood to be just a touch brighter, but I've seen promo pics of the actual costume appearing that color as well. I also thought he was going to be far more glossy (which would have been nice); compared to the photos on the first page of this thread, one may begin to wonder if Hot Toys used a glossier/sparkled finish on earlier production pieces. I don't want to start any conspiracy theories, but my figure is completely void of the apparent metallic finish seen here.

Like many Hot Toys figures (I'm looking at you, Predators), Iron Man is far too skinny and his head(s) too small. When he's posed with his legs and arms bent you don't really notice, but standing him up straight and putting on the Robert Downy Jr. reveals that in order to fit in that costume he'd need the body proportions of a barbie doll. From the side and three-quarter views he's fine, but from the front his legs and torso should be considerably thicker. Of course, that's nothing I didn't already know before he arrived.

The lights look so great, I wish I could leave them on all of the time. I'm happy to report mine did not show up with dead batteries; in fact the things are so bright it's like staring into someone's highbeams at night. While the hands do come off too easy, I'd rather they be easy to remove (because I like changing them up a lot) than requiring a hair dryer every time like some other figures do.

My other Hot Toys figures thus far include their Predator 2 figure, and The Dark Knight (new costume). While Iron Man is insanely intricate and detailed, I have to say I'd give the edge to the Dark Knight as a better figure to me. When I first opened Batman, I was amazed that his costume was actually rubber, and worked and felt just like a real suit. Iron Man is plastic (for obvious reasons), so there's a disconnect there that makes him just a little more toyish feeling in your hand.

Anyhow, I'm nitpicking. He is without a doubt an incredible figure that looks great in all kinds of poses. The intricacy of the suit is great, and the use of flexible rubber in certain areas for added flexibility and durability is genius. Hopefully the Mark III figure they inevitably come up with to coincide with the sequel doesn't put this version to shame too much :p

All these pics of people getting theirs inspired me to take a pic, oh how I envy that new feeling.

That's a great pic. I only wish the MKIII had LEDS in the boots as well.

i know! that's one of my few complaints!

if only i could customize LEDs, i would insert lights into the boots, but i have no clue how...

even though i am working on 2 customs that when they are finished will have LEDs...need to learn....

Yeah, I appreciate the pic, Titan. It's really odd how quickly the gloss on your Mark III degraded. It's unfortunate. I haven't heard of an issue like this from owners of the earlier waves of Mark III figures. Maybe the finish is not as high quality on the recent batch.

I polished him with car wax and it reduced the blemish to almost nothing, Im happy with how it came out.

I wonder if Future floor wax would work on this. I mean, heck, it worked wonders on the Stormtrooper.

Wow looks like it worked out well.

@kl241 - I'm also thinking of using Future to add a bit of shine to my mkiii. I use Future on my Gundam model kits so I wonder if I can just airbrush it on the mkiii.
