if only the plastic is what we paid for.. stupid broken arm/leg/ankle/head/neck/shoulder/spear/plasma cannon

I've never had anything broken on my five Predators.

I take my time, and pose them, snap pics, and put them in a curio. That's all I do with em.

My P2 Elder is still in the SAME pose I had him in since last November/December.

i open the box, turn it upside down, tip all the pieces out, the jam them all together as fast as i can, and when i hurt my finger on the stupid pointy boot a throw it in the fan....

:lol no iv never had anything break and i do the same Adam bro :lol i was meaning thats all the things iv read that people have had break, and the plastic in fragile, thats why there "models"

"Hurt my finger on the pointy"

Hahaha, reminds me of Pitu's Predator 2 Hot Toys video.... sadly, when I won his AvP Elder on ebay, I get it in the mail... and go nuts in excitement, and I cut my finger on one of the spear blades.

"Be careful, it's pointy" - Pitu

^^^Well wait.. I'm one of those "Nay Sayers" you're refering to.. and my position stands. HT recycled more than just the head and leg armor.

There's much more of a difference between this figure and any two in the AVP line... HT seem to have consciously picked the Lost Hunter combo that was furthest from the basic P2 Predator. Realistically I don't see what else they could have done, save for not doing the figure at all; on that logic they shouldn't have done the full trio of AVP Predators either.

And again, I don't see that the re-use of components justifies a lower price in any logical business sense; you're getting just as much kit as the original Predator 2 came with, and I suspect that opportunity to re-use components was a big attraction to taking up the P2 license in the first place. The more realistic view is that if there was no re-use of parts, the basic P2 would have been more expensive due to higher unit production costs.

I was under the impression that the intial scult and mold is what justified the higher cost. Isn't it significantly cheaper to produce this lost hunter figure (and future ones) since HT has the Body, Head, Hands, Feet, Smart disk and the majority of the armor already sculpted with an existing mold? Right? Shouldn't that cut costs to make? Or no!?

All that means is more of a profit for Hot Toys.

Be realistic. This is a BUSINESS!

If they can cut costs and sell the item at the SAME PRICE, then kudos to them. Anyone in they're right mind with any kind of business sense would do that. It just makes sense business wise.

You're looking the reuse of previously produced parts as a plus for YOU. Definately NOT the way to look at it.

It depends on what sort of timescale HT's business plan is running to.

They're a business; they need to make profit. They’ve held the prices of the Predators fairly constant since Celtic / Scar, notwithstanding the fact that there have been massive variations in the amount of re-use of parts. This seems reasonable to me; you’re getting about the same amount of toy in each box. Would it have gone down well if the P2 or Wolf had been much more expensive than the AVP Predators? I doubt it.

Within this pattern, then, they’re making a variable profit margin on each figure – ‘groundbreakers’ like the original P2 or Wolf are going to be carrying most of the cost of the moulds, but they can make a proportionately greater profit on the later toys that re-use more pieces. If HT are doing any sort of business planning, they will have factored this in when deciding if it was a good idea to pursue the P2 and AVP-R licenses in the first place: “we’re fairly sure we can turn a reasonable profit on the first figure, and if it sells well we can make a lot more with variations”. Sounds like a sensible business case to me.

While we’d all like to see cheaper Predators, I just don’t think it would make sense for HT as a business. And at the end of the day, if you get as much in the box, why shouldn’t you pay the same as before? Or is it ‘fair’ that those of us who buy the initial runs subsidise those who come in later?

OK, seen all the pics, I think this is gonna be my new seccond favourite after Elder Pred 2, move over Wolf, new guy coming through.

Great looking figure :D but kinda think thats a little wierd cuz of the head and the armors but still kick ass no matter. Anyways can't wait to c how the boxes looks.:banana
