Not really. That sculpt really doesn't fit the origins clothes. Well I guess you could go for an X-men one look when he's on the road with rogue.

The fakes are good but not if you know what to look for. The key is getting a photograph of the actual item and not your everyday google picture.

If you find one you want put a pic up here and you'll get a response. I don't actually have him but I do know the differences between the fake and the original. The skin tone, belt buckle, stand, box, eye's, all have differences.

Again your best bet is to buy from someone who collects so either here or if it's ebay read the description - If it says something like "Kept in a dust free environment, well looked after" etc etc , you can be confident the guy collects himself.

The lenght of the white t-shirt is another give away, the fakes are always too short.

Have you guys heard of fakes coming out of Canada? I've seen a couple on eBay that just don't look right. I compared him to a picture of the real thing and something is off. I've seen a couple that look similar and they come from Canada.

Unfortunately once the fakes are in circulation they are like a virus. They could pop up anywhere. You could get people flicking fakes because they got a fake and the circle continues until someone stops it.

The thing with pictures are, not everyone takes good pictures and not everyone is good at futzing a figure so it might look like complete crap on a photo but still be the real deal.

Look at the guy's history, if he sells figures, buys figures and has good feedback then you know he's probably legit. You could always return it if it is fake and make a Paypal claim. If they state it's real and it's not that's a false description and qualifies for a claim through Paypal.

Or at least that's the rules here in Australia, I'm sure it would be the same.

Thanks so much. You've been a great help. I think I'm going to look for one here in the forum and if I find it, great. If not, I'll get the new one. Not worth it to get into the mess of fakes out there. :)

The forum is 100% the best way to go. You'll get a better deal too. If you're not fussed about boxes and the like you can get loose figures for a great deal. He doesn't have any extra's anyway.

You're lucky though, not many people ship internationally (to me) because of trust issues so you get a better shot at a great deal. :wink1:

Just make sure you get it insured. Better to be safe than sorry.

You know that wolverine is originally from canada?
Maybe that means the ones from Canada are the originals.
And the Chinese ones are the fakes...
:)

So I saw this pic on OSR's Facebook page.
The person posting the thread was asking if the people thought if it was a real Hot Toys or a fake?
A lot were saying fake but then the person said they bought it off a member of this board for $250
Does anyone recognize the figure?

Sorry guy, but I've got an original (brand new straight from Sideshow) and in my opinion that looks like a fake. The hairline isn't right, the mustache is too dark and the head is too shiny.

I thought it looked off too,but the guy who bought it said the seller said it was an original.

100% FAKE

I've known this for a while and I don't think this has been posted, but on fake Wolverines, the button has three stitches and the in and out buttons pieces are reversed to the real Wolverine figure. The REAL Wolverine figures has 4 stitches with the outy, Fake has 3 stitches with inny button as shown in my photo:

By the way, I'm selling my original Wolverine Clothes, shoes, hands and claws for $175 Airmail shipped (everything but the head and body and no box or stand), I'm really hard up on cash at the moment. This lot would be really cool to use with the new Hot Toys Wolverine head coming out in March!!

There are fake MKI armours?

Yep, Paint on the can (where the batteries go) on his back was different (too much black or not enough, I can't remember) and the paint job on his hair just as it went under the back part of his helmet stopped to soon.

Nope , it was getting passed off as an original and people were paying $400 up until word got around to enough forum members at least to know better, but I'm sure non-members out there bought thousands worth and still don't know they’re fakes. I think it's one of the reasons Hot Toys started making 2.0 versions of some of their figures.

There was also fakes of the DX 1 Joker too if I remember right.
