It's one of those things like 90% of the mods I've done to my Pred that almost no one would noticed before or after I changed it.

I've had the figure for about a week now and it's really cool. My only real gripe (apart from the obvious) is the tongue. The action on mine is off as and gets caught on the teeth. It also looks crap, like a place holder more than the finished article if you get me.

Apart from that it's all gravy.

Just got mine from BBTS. The figure has great presence. It may not be as accurate as the Medicom one, but the size and paint application makes it look much better in my eyes. I'm glad I decided to go with this over the Medi one.

With so much alien love floating in the air, I thought I'd share this link to a short documentary about Giger and his immortal creation:

https://www.zen171398.zen.co.uk/index.html

Check out the Kenner alien and NECA Pinhead at the beginning of the film!

Thanks to the original posters at the Hive, sysops and locusta.

BTW, I had my HT alien shipped from BBTS, so hopefully it'll be here in a couple of weeks! :D

EDIT: Check out minute 17 of the documentary for a good look at the Rambaldi hero-head. Although it's pretty beat-up, the shape of the dome is just gorgeous!

It's interesting, I haven't really looked at Giger's artwork in a long while, but the final Alien design for the first film doesn't really look that much like his artwork. The Alien 3 design looks far more like his artwork oddly enough. It has that combination of sensual lines broken up by organic shapes. Like if you look at the arms on the Alien3 and the arms on Necronomicon V. Actually the whole of the Alien3 design looks a lot like that piece.

Indeed, that is why Giger was so mad that the guys over at ADI were always so adamant that the A3 design was solely theirs.

If you check out the footage in the museum there's a couple of interesting pieces all over the place, like an incomplete Cinemaquette alien and a McF Li II sculpt. Very nice details.

Also, around minute 29-30 there's a very good look at the "statue" in the museum. What was very interesting to me is that it looks more like a mix of statue and suit. The head seems to be mechanized head, you can clearly see the wires that worked the translucent lips, but the wrists don't have the tell-tale signs of the partition between arm and hands. And the whole size and proportions look like a stunt suit and not the Bolaji Badejo suit or statue. Very interesting... maybe it was put together from different pieces.
There's also an interesting shot of the alien hanging from the ceiling, and it looks like an unfinished statue. You can see the lack of detail on one leg and the arms.

Lots of very cool info if you look closely.

Awesome pictures Wookster, can't wait to read the review.
Where is that newborn figure from?

Let us know when that one arrives and also has the gap. :D

Well, I just figured I'd take them up on their offer. I haven't sent mine back yet, so I'll have a choice between the two when the new one gets here. They paid for my return label, and are allowing me to send whichever one back I decide. It doesn't cost me an extra cent, and now was the time to act on it.
