Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

Maybe we will make one 1 6th scale one day and I'd love a chance to improve ours in a few areas.

How long after its declared overdue can we expect a 1/6th scale figure?....sorry, bit of a paraphrased Aliens quote there that I just wanted to get in.

What I mean to ask is doesn't it get less and less likely the more time that passes that your bosses would give the go ahead on a 1/6th scale Alien? You won't have the license forever I assume and don't these things have to be strategised in terms of timing and whatnot?

I certainly would buy a 1/6th scale NECA Alien, and I'm particularly saying 1/6th scale rather than 12" because ideally it would be taller than 12 inches. I'd especially buy it if your aim would be to improve that sculpt further, its already the best out there of its type - a poseable action figure - which is the only 'type' I'm inclined to collect - not into statues, macquettes (sp?), busts etc.

Really the only reason I'd consider getting this Hot Toys Alien is for a sense of 'classic trilogy' completism since I have the Aliens warrior and the Dog alien. But theres only so many inaccurate aliens I need and even a completist bent, which I would normally succumb to, isn't enough in this case.

If we did make ours 1, 6th I would like to do something different with the lips many just to change it for the fun of it. I always like the mouth just starting to open look. That would be sweet.

That would be cool. The quivering lips or 'sheath', whatever is appropriate to call it, really add something sinister to the Alien. I'd like to see an attempt to replicate that.

You mean that moment where they just start pulling back and almost vibrate as they do? I think that's one of the great parts of the mouth shots, that small vibration is freaky and just makes you more worried than simply having the mouth open.

Since the original to me has the best and scariest mouth I like it when it's almost closed and just starts to show its teeth. I was going to take it that way but went with a look that was cool with the mouth open and shut. The only thing is China has the jaw to far back and the mouth won't close right and it also takes away from the look. It's easy thought to fix it if a person has some customizing skills. Really when the test shots first showed up the thing wouldn't even stand because the pastic was so flexible. I rember being so worried we might have a disaster on our hands. Even though I wish things were better it still turned out to be close to what I was shooting for.

We would do it if TRU would order enough of them. They don't really like 18 inch because it takes up so much more shelf space. We did the T800 12 inch because they ordered so many. Nomally we would go 18 but TRU wanted 12. They told us Alien figures do great and they want more. We'll see what might happen. As it is right now with alien I'm pushing for the queen. It would be great though to get a secound chance to go back in and make the Alien perfect. I can tell you the boss is sick of my obsessing over the Alien and I've driving him nuts over it. I guess I like it to much. It's fun to get on here and see others think like me and want it dead on. It's just such a cool thing really and I can't believe it's been 30 years already.

Dude, if only you guys would make the alien in 1/6 scale! That would be beyond sweet.
I know just what you mean about the lips right at the moment they are pulling back to reveal the teeth, that is such a brilliant moment! In the movie they were actually translucent, really freaky, you can see in the Quad set when they are showing off Rambaldi's mechanized head.
To be able to duplicate that in a collectible would be amazing... but I've never seen that, not even on the big 1/1 busts.
Maybe it could simply be an attachment that you can put on over the teeth, something that just fit over with a little pressure. Well, I can dream, can't I?
Seriously though, if you folks at NECA can go back and do Giger's alien in 1/6 scale, and "fix" the small details that bug you, damn! that would be simply fantastic.

And hopefully you'll get to make all of the aliens and preds as well! Our collections demand your accuracy and eye for detail dude! Just imagine, a Queen sculpted by you! Awesome.

If memory serves hes not best fond of Alien 3 and didn't jump on the "its actually not bad at all" bandwagon like some of us. However, no matter your opinion of the film, the creature was the last great Alien design and it'd be great to see it finally done justice as a figure. Neither McFarlane or Hot Toys succeeded at it. The latter looked like some kind of piranha face.

I'd be happier if they had rights to Predator 1 and 2 before either new franchise movie, especially since we've yet to see the xenomorph design for the new film, just cuz Ridley's involved doesn't mean it won't be another ADI design.

As for P1 and 2... yes, that would be amazing!
We can always hope, Kyle says the folks over at NECA are really happy with the sales of the aliens and preds, so I suppose there's always a chance.

It would be nice, one thing I like about NECA's work on these films is the poses are faithful to the source material. McFarlane's Alien was a bit too dynamic for any Alien but especially the first.
