Paint looks average at best, no smiley face, no hope for Rorschach. Glad I didn't buy into this line.

:banghead
my god! why does everyone keep complaining about rorschach not being made, when we know he IS being made?? they just haven't released official pics yet.

these were pics from the ht offices:

now...we know they're making him, so i just wanna know what's taking so long for pics :(

Thanks for the pics man. lol i like how hot toys has the medicom ghost rider :lol

Spoken like a real winner.

I wish it weren't the case, but if they aren't going to go out of their way to get the Smiley face rights, or even bother giving him a proper paint job, their probably going to wrap up the line like they did with the Spirit.

I can't help but think if they had started with this figure and given him a younger sculpt, and then given us Rorschach and Nite Owl like were originally rumored, their would be more interest in secondary characters.

Instead they took the Sideshow approach of doing the less popular characters first to try and give people as much as they could before interest dies. It didn't work.

Deducing the quality of the paint job on the head based on the one pic is a bit asinine, no? And it's not even a reasonable portrait distance or close-up.

I can understand the reticence over the lack of smiley face on the button, but the rest of your arguement dooming this figure as a failure is a bit knee-jerk. Rorshcach nor any other character may be released (which at this point is conjecture and not certainty), but it has no bearing on the quality of this figure. From what I can see, the figure looks really nice taken as a whole.

My interest in this figure, this line, and the movie in general is tepid and best, but I want to at least remain fair.

Its not a lighting thing tho, look at his moustache and how far to the left and right it goes. It's beyond his laugh lines/dimples. He looks like he has a goatee patch as well. And the hair looks flat in color. I'm thinking same thing as the Spirit paint. And if you want to sell another 4 figures, why not give the first two proper treatment?

i was hoping this would be the first line in a while HT would do justice to completeness. i hope that's still true. if they have any sense at all, they'll release rorschach. he's by far the most popular figure request but if they make their decision based on sales of silk and comedian, it's a fail coz people are waiting to see if we get more than just those 2. vicious circle.

if this is all we're getting, it'll be a long time before i buy into such a license again. where there are multiple characters of close or equal importance and we have to gamble on whether HT only plans to give us about 1/3 of them.

Im glad hes out, but wats taking the guys at toy world so long to post in hand pics of this guy?

And what happened to "the desk guy" anyways, how come hes not posting this up already :lol

I need to see the paint job on these before I can commit. It seems like HT is rushing this one out, so Im a bit worried with the paintjob. If its on par with wolverine's then I'd get these in a heartbeat.

The movie was badly received in Asia, and the source material isn't as popular out there. So as has been said by others, I don't think we'll see many pics till these start hitting the West.

the mustache has a distinct sculpt that has a definite end point before reaching the dimples. Unless HT is so sloppy as to have slopped the paint onto the Comedian's skin or changed the mustache sculpt, I don't think we'll have a problem with that area. As for the hair being too flat and single toned, that remains to be seen. I can't really judge on that photo and they're aren't any in hand ones out right now.

I'm not disregarding the possibility that HT went lazy on the paint apps, but I can't see it based on that one image.

There's this, which isn't a good one to go by:

Yes, I know. That eBay pic is a closer shot though, where you can kinda see his hair.

Edit: And thanks for the photos, theokou!

From these initial pics I like him.The scar is not vissible but we definitely need face close-up pics. There are veins and skin texture on his arms, nice stubble effect so maybe the sculpt's paint is great we just have to wait for clearer pics.

They really have some effed up taste and sensibilities over there. :lol

I don't get this smileys thing. I know, I know, if you're spending SO much you expect it to be perfect. But I don't mind printing out a decal or painting it on...doesn't affect me in the least. The paint where it matters, on the face, that's IMPOSSIBLE to fix, looks freaking awesome.

As a side note, even though I know it's not accurate, I wonder if you can take it off as a separate piece? I'd order another one and paint the blood stain on it :)

I agree with thecapn, the smiley face issue doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'll find decals somewhere and that'll fix that. I saw some closeup pics of his scar on HT's website and it looks good!

He's been been released in HK, so hopefully he'll be coming to the US soon. Can't wait to see more pics as they surface.

I wonder how quickly we'll see this figure parted out on ebay. I wanted an extra of these new 1/6 bodies for a kitbash.
