I just started reading this thread. I took my Comedian out of the box to inspect it. It has never been displayed. It has a light sheen on the back. Nothing under the holster, just the top part of the rubber on the back. Is Hot Toys going to correct this or make it right? Probably not at this late date. I have had it with their attempt at rubber on figures. Luckily my DX02 Bateman has had no issues yet.

Checked mine about a week or so ago. It had been boxed up for a while and decided to check on it, the suit on around the back of the right shoulder was just disintigrating. Texture reminded me of when blu-tack has been played with for a while and just becomes very stretchy. Shame.

Nothing left to do but bin the rubber suit and part out the rest and get what I can from it. Very annoying.

Just a matter of time I suppose. Checked mine the other day and nothing really stood out but tonight was a different story. Saw some greasey glossy goo under the shotgun holster and under the tank top itself was a mess. Strange that its not the pants too.

Bummed cause this was one of my favorite figures. :banghead Guess T-800 gets some news weapons now...

I'm gonna be selling his figure, i've never noticed any oil problems, but i want to make sure so i'm not screwing a buyer, where should i be looking on the fig?

Look for oil/grease or a sheen on the suit. The most common areas are the back of the suit and the harness. Though, reports of the pants and the elbow pads have come in too.

Might wanna see if you can get a Q-tip down the center of the back and shoulder blades to make sure it comes up dry. You'll get reamed if he winds up having an issue.

Well after double checking everything i have put this baby up on the 'bay, find the link here in the "items for auction" Section...

I too join the ranks of the leaking Comedians. :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

He hasn't decayed too much yet... just leaking on the shoulders and behind the back. Went through about four Q-tips cleaning him up.

I've been reading this thread for the last couple of days... from post #1028 and on when the leaking first was reported. Geez, what a mess.

Not sure what to do at this point. I like him too much to part him out on Ebay. Perhaps I'll wait to see what the replacement parts look like.

I would really like to get the rubber suit off of him to see if there is anymore leakage but I'm afraid of breakage. Is there a "safe" way of removing the harness? Or is it glued into place?

Unfortunately, this is not my only rubber figure from Hot Toys... I also have Hellboy and Abe Sapien, who are both currently posed in neutral, or non-dramatic poses (including moving Hellboy's knees) for fear of cracking or breakage.

And did I read that right... Kane from Hot Toys Alien Line is leaking too. I know someone who has that figure....

To remove the harness you have to "break" or unglue the right or left parts where the bullets are stored from the belt.

Kane or Dallas don't leak oil but their suit gets sticky if left in the styrene tray.

Remember guys if you think about part him out on ebay that HT is releasing a muscular body soon.

Nova, the left side of your vest looks darker to me. Mine is exactly the same. no actual damage but the oil has started to degrade. Mine is also dry down the back, but if you look closely in the grooves on the left hand side you will notice the shinier surface. I live in Ireland, you in England so obviously environmental temperature plays a part as mine looks the same. If I was you I would post/take some more detailed pics (no offense, but those are too blurry to see this problem start). I don't really think these pics cover you if indeed yours is ok. But for how long? It's like selling a TV or something which you know is going to fail in 3 months.
I don't think handing over an item on ebay which WILL have problems is any better than selling something already faulty IMO. There are a lot of buyers who would have no idea about these QC issues.

:(:peace

This is where is seems to start. And that looks a little oily to me.

I wonder what the best thing to do is, if the rotting hasn't gone too far. Will it stop if the connection between the two substances is removed. Is it worth carefully cutting the vest off and putting the whole lot on a different body?

It's the rubber itself breaking down. There's really nothing that can be done. HT just didn't let it cure properly. :(

Buying a muscular body for the Comedian might be step one in the process of re-building him. I feel this re-building process is going to be a long haul.

Getting rid of the chest rubber may not solve the problem but it will make me feel better that there is one less piece to worry about.

So is the body suit the only piece that is being cast? What about the elbow pads?

For the Elbow pads i'm going another way.
I want to do leather ones and glue the metal part on them.
Wanted to ask Elvis about it.
It's just an idea up in the air for now.

Thanks Rorywan, i checked and you were right, there is a bout 8mm wide patch where the rubber is softer, i swabbed it and found no oil.

i have added this to the items page...

PLEASE BE AWARE: Upon further inspection i have found a small patch where the rubber is softer and darker, under the left arm on the Vest, i have swabbed this area to determine if there was any Oil present.

There was no oil or signs or breakage evident, just darker softness.

Please be aware of this slight issue on the rubber vest top and take it into account if you choose to bid.

As stated above this is NOT a Toy and is not designed to be used as such, any playing or extreme posing may result in damage.

I've had this figure since launch & i barely noticed this, this leads me to think that this won't deteriorate for a long while. Please be aware that with the reports of meltings and breakage so i cannot guarantee future condition.

Seller is not responsible for returns based on this issue, if you do not agree with this then please do not bid.

A small patch of softer rubber is not enough for me to withdraw the figure entirely, if the buyer is aware then it's their call.

Check out the listing and tell me what you think...

What do yu guys think i should do?

Give the listing a read and give me your opinion whether i should continue or pull the listing.

I don't want to pull the listing as the softening is very minor (doesn't ruin the whole figure, i didn't notice it untill rorywan told me to check it out), but i also don't know what'll happen in the future, i've had it since launch so i don't see it getting worse just yet, compared to the train wrecks reported way back.

Thoughts?

At least you guys aren't stuck with the S#$@y DC Direct Comedian. The "bendable fingers" on his hands can't even hold the gun

I wouldn't worry about it. You have it there in the item description so your ass is covered. If someone buys it at this point, especially a Freak, that's on them. Hell, Freaks are still buying the DX02 without realizing even the DCD batch leaks. You can lead a horse to water... :lol
