This must be the suckiest day ,

I've had my share of HT faulties ; (TDK , OC suit Batman, Big chap Alien pegs, trinkety Iron Man parts)

But this must've taken the poocake.

I was just posing my TDK suit bat, and admiring how flexible the rubber is, when it occurs to me that I haven't "air" my comedian for months now.

And what do you know, much to my horror, one of my favorite figure .. (re) unbox him, turned him around, and its literally drenched.

As you can see from my picture, all it took is one soft pull and the freakin' suit falls apart like a dead Symbiote.

The sad thing is prior to it being pulled to mush I was making a good 20 minutes effort to gently dab the damn thing with tissue paper. Its like trying to resurrect Saddam Hussein I tells ya.

man, I worry with the prospect of WHAT could go wrong with Keaton Bat , and I POed 2 of those, while watching the suit falls apart in horror , I kept thinking I have spent $170 on this guy.

Anyways, just needed to vent.

Put myself on that Interest for replacement suit (very late I might add) Hopefully Olbert will take pity on me. :)

exact same thing happened to me, went to wipe the oil off with a tissue lastnight and it just decintegrated, this sucks, but i chopped up the dc armor and popped that on mine looks ok IMO

Mine is slowly disintegrating as well. I was lucky and had no issues with the Batman DX-02 doing this. This makes me very wary about Hot Toys rubber figures. I did not order the new OC batman because of this.

Elvis1976 did put the DCD armor on the HT comedian.
It was too big. Needed work.
There must be some pictures in his thread.

Actually, it's not a rubber curing time issue... It's a chemical reaction between different types of silicons & plastics coming in contact with each other. This is why it happens in the same spots on the figures and why the Armor All trick has worked for some. That said, it really should have been addressed and corrected by Hot Toys. This is a shame.

Not really. When you look at Batman, there aren't different types of plastics. It's just the rubber suit decomposing. Pants and top were made from the same rubber. :lol

But what are they coming in contact with underneath? Also, rubbers can be very similar but actually different comounds that can produce a reaction.

All I know is that I have a good friend who works in poly & silicon chemicals for a living and when he saw my Comedian figure he didn't hesitate to conclude that it's a chemical reaction that's happening.

Of course, that doesn't really change things anyway. It's still HT's responsibility and peoples' $200 figures are having pieces disintegrate. So at the end of the day the same issue remains, whether we agree on the cause or not.

It is a chemical reaction, but moreso of the compounds used to make the suit breaking down, hence the oily residue. The "melty part" is actually over-saturation from the oils seeping out of the improperly cured parts and being soaked up by the other parts of the suit, causing it to bloat and losing the detail of the molds. It's all there in the DX thread. Speculation with Comedian's suit is the same because of the like materials used.

ok heres the pics. sorry bout the quality, i will admit that the neck isnt big enough, but im not a super customiser and i dont have the money to buy a replacement, the dc comedian was only ten bucks, so its a poor mans fix hahaha. also swapped his badge to the dc ones too. thanks

Just rearranged my display today, and noticed that the back on my rubber shirt is starting to tear as well:(

Cant complain though, since I bought him at $100 when he was first released, plus it looks good from the front and you cant notice the tear anyways.

:horror

Holy cow! I had read in other threads about the Comedian having the rubber deterioration problems but I had no idea it was this bad!

Sorry guys! That is truly inexcusable of HT to not address this problem. Alien Big Chap and Kane are the only HT figures that I have with rubber on them, and I'm going to check on them as soon as I get home.

Not all rubber figures have this problem. I have the Batman OC and no problems at all. I also have TDK batman (not the DX) and no problems. Seems to be an issue with the DX02, The Comedian and some vague reports on the re-release of the OC Batman (His A$$)
