I doubt I will get the customized replacement but i will probably settle for that DC direct custom. Better that than a half naked comedian with that grin on his face.

So should I not attempt to buy one of these? Or maybe buy a used one that had been displayed?

If you're willing to invest more money into getting custom pieces so he's perfect, then go for it.
I triedthe flexible superglue fix minus the Flamma body (but i coated the Hot Toys body with the glue too.
It ended up making the suit fit a little looser to the body but with all the gear on it looks good and maybe that'a a good thing anyway.
Of course mine fell apart when removing it to, the shoulder strap broke in half. i was able to glue it together and his rig covers it. aesthetically now it looks perfect and no ugly areas are exposed.
BUT... I can say with almost certiantly this is no long term solution. This rubber is cheap. Plain and simple and it's going to find a way to rot.
the glue part will just eventually crack, the rest will crack and/or melt away.
it's not goingto fix the problem. Only a replacement part will and then we have to hope that the pants never become a problem...
A nice high quality silicone is the only way to go, thank god for obertfrog's guy...
Silicone should really stand the test of time... im no chemist but i mean it's not like you see women's fake breasts rotting away...
Hot toys really has to go this route in the future.. no more rubber. Ever.. If it costs me double thats OK...

i should also add that ifthe FX guy deos decide to use plastic im ok with that too, you will lose some mobility but not enough to care and it's almost a guarantee that you will never ever have a problem... with the buckles painted and gray dry brushed over it its gonna look identical to Hot Toys anyway.

Maybe I will just strip his outfit off and put a bathrobe on him with his cigar and put him in front of a 1/6 scale TV like at the beginning of the movie. At least hopefully the bathrobe won't rot.
Over a week since I did the Super glue tactic... no oil at all yet.. don't have high expectations on this though...

Really, you would pay double, the prices on these figures are already out of control as it is and you go and make a statement like that. I am sure Hot Toys read that and now they will price there figures accordingly. How about we just not buy the CRAP rubber products they are producing and make them use better materials, but thats just my opinion.

This figure and DX02 have already made up my mind I will not be buying 89 Bats... Because I dont trust HT to slack on the rubber on him as well... Dont tell me they well us hard plastic on it because then say goodbye to the figrue being able to move at all...

I second that. People like the rubber for the accuracy and posability, but it is a headache. I have quit buying their rubber products. Others like it despite it's faults. Hot Toys will continue to make money. I have the original Batman Begins figure and the OC and the first TDK Batman. No problems out of them, Nothing but problems with the Comedian and its deterioration.

How long did it take before this and the DX02 Batman start leaking? I thought the second batch DX02s were ok. I'm sooo happy now that I own the V1 TDK figure instead. I'd rather have a bulkier suit than one that melts.
What other figures leak? Any made since DX02 and Comedian? King Leonidas? I don't get how later releases leak and those older ones are still holding up for everyone out there. I'd hope future rubber suits go back to the old method.

Batman DX 2.0 still had issues. They fixed the abs by replacing them with platic ones, but other parts still leaked
Including the HARD plastic abs... mine are hard and for whatever reason they leak too!

A few weeks since the superglue treatment.. so far it does not seem the oil has returned.,. the rubber has not warped further either.
