I would be VERY surprised to see anything T1 before T2's done, the rights alone favor milking T2 for all it's worth before moving onto the trickier film, plus, they can be developing T1 now and dealing with all that while they have T2 figures to sell.

The only things I hope they develop on the T1, is a headsculpt and clothing, as I wouldn't want the body any bulkier

If or when they finally do a T1 Arnold (and hopefully Reese too) I can see it being a DX forsure. Theres no way they would bother making more than one of each character if its costing them more than just licensing rights. Dutch is a good example of this.

T1 should be quick and complete imo.

:lecture:lecture:lecture Likely battle damaged T2 T-800.

Well I don't mean develop so much as design as things like talking to Arnie's people for likeness approvals, with luck, talking with Biehn about likeness rights and approvals, possibly even Hamilton for likeness rights and approvals. T1 isn't just go out and make it and get the licensor to approve, the likeness rights aren't covered, so like Dutch, all the heads will have to be approved by the licensor and by whichever actor they're working on. I'm sure that's why T2 was done first, likeness is covered for that film, so start with the one you can roll with right out the gate and by yourself time to do the leg work on the trickier film.

Which would be fine with me.

My most wanted figure in this entire line.

Loved the music at that part. It was rather heroic or inspiring in a way to a great ending when older. Personally I was so gutted and nearly crying at that part when I was a kid back then at that scene seeing the hero going to kill himself.

Just as Sarah said it was like watching a father the way the Terminator character was in the desert part and the goodbye scene.

That brings up an interesting question. Is Michael's likeness covered for T2 should he not want a T1 figure made? He didn't actually appear in the theatrical release and I'm not sure if the "uncut" versions count.

I wonder if they could use Salvation for Arnie's likeness rights, if there were any problems?

Depends, for as brief as the likeness was used in the movie and Arnie not actually performing, his contract may not have included signing over likeness rights for merchandising, especially since in T:S, he was naked so chances were high there'd be no one looking to make a product of him in that movie, and I don't know how the legals work but if you tried putting T1 clothes on a T:S figure where he never wore them in that movie, probably wouldn't fly.

Best way around T1 rights that might fly is the suggested clean T-800 Police version, you could play it off as flashback or something from the photos shown to Sarah, but that's about it.

I would guess no, even if he weren't cut from the film, it was such a small part of the movie, the contract folks probably didn't care to get his rights because they would be focusing product on the specific T2 stuff. You never know though, they have rights to the guy who played John Connor for all of 2 minutes.

What about Roland Kickinger? Considering that's mostly him, would he need to fork over his rights as well?

Same here, it's my favorite music of all the Terminator scores, Fiedel was actually quite good at taking the core Terminator theme and making small changes to it for different emotional contexts.

That's why I want a BD to have the thumbs up hand, while it might look silly out of the context of the film scene, spending childhood watching the movie and being bummed T-800 had to die, that last gesture was so cool to me.

Don't know if likeness applies to bodies, unless he had some very unique feature exactly replicated on the figure, I don't think he'd have much of a case. Even this T-800 body, stripped down, doesn't look exactly like Arnie, sure it's bulky like him, but you put a picture of it against a shot of Arnie's body and there'll be enough tweaks to accommodate articulation that it'll be somewhere like a 50-70% match.

I'd strongly bet I'm in the minrotiy, but I wish they'd have just entirely used him for the role in T:S, and spared us the half convincing CG rendered face. I would have been less distracted by the slight recast over the video game Arnold. Just my two cents.

Back on topic, I am loving this figure. I can't seem to leave him alone. It's like when I discovered how to murder ewoks. Arnold is getting handeled alot.

I agree. As nice as it was to see Arnold, I didn't buy the effects nor the physique. Roland looks similar to Arnold, but is bigger and the effect made the T-800 look very goofy and almost pinheaded.

I'm just happy with how it turned out as far as story, when the rumors started to fly about T:S, I thought the implication was that Roland or Sam Worthington would be the face of the Terminators now, like Arnold's Model 101 design wouldn't even exist, but Worthington was used differently than I thought from early on and I was ok with how they did that, and I was ok with the CGI work to establish Arnie's 101 model still existing, it was brief and cool.

But that would have take out the best part of Salvation. . . .

I didn't go in being that close-minded about it, so honestly, I wasn't disappointed. I knew it wouldn't touch T1 or T2 and expected it to be better than T3 and SCC but also viewed it as the first film in a trilogy. I left feeling it adequately fulfilled that expectation and was pleasantly surprised to see Marcus in the main role. Though, honestly, I would've liked it a lot more had Marcus' true character not been leaked pre-release.

I am standing him next to the Sideshow figure in my video, and they are the same height (Actually the Sideshow looks a bit bigger, but the Hot Toys is not standing as upright)

Thanks, guys. I was curious about the height but you have answered all of my questions. I went ahead and ordered two from BBTS. Can't wait to get him especially after the great video review.
