Speculation. :lecture:lecture:lecture

So when you preorder a figure and you see live pictures from different sources that show you a totally different sculpting, what would you do? Just ignore the facts and keep your preorder? Then what source is there that people can trust? Same thing with the Sideshow Neytiri, cancelled her as well after they made some "improvements" and were so kind to show the new pictures in the gallery.

It's not pure speculation, I think people have an understandable reason to be concerned about the final result.

Recent pic from Toy Hunter with the alternate hairpiece. Looks slightly better and the HS doesn't look so wide anymore.

There might still be hope folks!

Damn!! This is the most wierd angle ever!! :monkey4

No, when I see a ____ty picture with ____ty lighting and ____ty focus from a ____ty angle, I don't get my chonies wound up into my ass crack over it. ATM, the only facts we know are that the Proto looks good and people couldn't take a decent ____ing picture to save their lives. :lol I wait until in hand pics arrive, which 100% of the time reveal a more accurate representation of what we'll be getting, then decides based on those, if I want to keep or cancel.

In other words, ten thousand people could take ten thousand different pictures of an awful sculpt, but until the figure comes out, those pictures are not reliable.

That's some incredibly garbage logic you've there.

except that time and again, we've seen that to be the case.
you're relatively new around here, so trust us on this.
this happens with EVERY. HOT TOYS. RELEASE.
People take dozens of crap- quality pics in crap lighting and conditions with crappy cameras. people wig out all over the place. then someone who actually understands HOW to take a good picture gets the figure in hand, and it looks like a totally different figure.

an example

these are both pictures of the same Bruce Wayne sculpt.

crap picture with crap lighting

granted, this is not a very extreme example, but i hope it helps to get the point across.

What Nam's saying is that he's reserving judgement until he sees some pictures taken by someone who's got a quality camera, and is competent with it.

Only garbage logic to a blatant idiot. You telling me that there're 5 different prototype sculpts here?:

Or is it a single sculpt distorted so many times, that it looks completely different with each and every shot. We go through this in every single HotToys thread where people take ____ty pics on their phones, it's fisheyed because of con-lighting, the flash bleaches it out, etc., the ____tards cancel based on those, then _____ when the figures come out fine and everybody's either sold out or above the original MSRP.

except that time and again, we've seen that to be the case.

Selective reading. You can't explain it to the thickheaded dip____s doing this ---> :ignore:

Paint looks different because of the lighting, but at least you can actually tell they are the same sculpt., which is NOT the case with Alice, no matter how crappy the pics are, you can see the sculpt is different from the proto.

Why is it so hard for some to see it? It's not the end of the world to accept that HT can also _____ sometimes. :dunno

Not saying they didn't. Neither ( i don't think) is nam. what we're saying is it's too hard to tell one way or the other from the ____ pictures.

also, the crappy pale pic makes his cheekbones look different, as well as the eye-sculpt, and eyebrows. Additionally, the overall sculpt looks softer on the details.

OK, then you can see they are two different sculpts (proto pics and Toy fair pics) but justify the lack of detail on the latter due to the crappy lighting conditions. Am I getting it right?

I raised the lighting exposure a little bit on that recent picture to show the sculpt better.

For the record, we know that 1 is real milla. 2 &3 are the same sculpt, and 4,5,&6 are the same sculpt.

point being, NONE of them look the same.

:lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly:

I think several people saw the "tucked" bangs on the head (vs the hanging bangs on the proto shots - remember, she comes with swapout bangs) and instantly thought the head was wider because they showed more of the cheeks. Add that to lens distortion and you have tittybabies jumping ship for no reason at all.

If you can tell it's the same sculpt, then they do look the same (2 &3), (4,5,6) for you to recognise that they are the same 2 sculpts

Not really, no. I can take a picture of you in one lighting, and a picture of you in another. and still be able to tell that the two pictures are still you, even if you don't look the same in them.

"any image captured at the right moment can make any man look like a God, or an idiot"

We know that 4,5,&6 are the same sculpts, only because they were taken at the same show.

2&3, Look similar enough that I'd expect them to be the same as well.

I'm confidant that the first two, and the second 3 are two different sculpts.

What I'm not confidant about is that the sculpt from pictures 4,5,&6 looks as terrible as everyone is making it out to be.

given the choice, based SOLY on the pictures we've seen, I prefer the look of the sculpt in the first two.
However, as the bale pic shows, crappy photography washes out all the detail . so we don't REALLY know HOW the "new" sculpt actually looks.
Additionally, we don't know what head she's going to come with UNTIL she starts arriving in people's hands.

Just saw this at Toysdaily and about fell out of my chair laughing....

EDIT: Aw heck... just realized this had been posted already. Sorry!

The sculpt looks very different BECAUSE of the swap out hair and framing of the face!!! Geezz! Looks obvious to me- those FLASHED out pics lose coloration and hue in cheekbones which dramatically alters it's appearance! Wait folks just wait!
