But she was beautifully wooden.

And gave me beatiful woo....er, you get the picture.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

Colby Smuthers? She was laughably bad. The only actor that was wooden in the avengers.

It's Smulders.

And no, she wasn't bad at all. She played her role exactly like Whedon asked her to, and she played it great.

The way she 'argues' with fury is laughable. Go back and watch how unconvinced she is of her own character. She's not a good actress. Whedon was probably trying to bang her. The rest of the cast and the movie rock.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

Whedon is a feminist. I highly doubt he's hiring young female actors in an attempt to get into their pants.

It never even occurred to me to have any issue with her performance and this is the first I have ever heard anyone complain about it. She argues with Fury the way she does because they're in a military organization and she can't just start screaming at her superior officer. To me she played the contained anger and distrust toward Fury quite well.

Man that opening scene where Fury and her are walking down to the reactor and they are arguing about evacuating the phase two prototypes is BAAAAAAD. So either Whedon had a brain fart in an otherwise great movie and wrote stilted dialogue or SHE SUCKS. More than likely she sucks. I dont see many poeple clamoring for more Hill.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

Or more than likely you just have a differing opinion than some and the quality of an actor's skill is more preference than fact and isn't something that's quantifiable.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

looks great but going to pass on him as $200 is a bite too high for such a side character

now hopefully HT will announce an agent Hill figure soon

Oh yeah! Agreed!!! :exactly::pray:

It doesn't matter how much money they made, Avengers wouldn't have been made if it weren't for X-Men.

It's the principle, XMFC has NOTHING and Avengers has ten figures now, that is a ridiculous balance.

_____

But it's plain and simple bull**** on HT's part to do a tenth figure from a line announced AFTER another which has zero figures. FACT.

I'll leave this thread now for those who for some reason do want this, it's not cool to bring you dow and i apologize, it's just the wait on getting nothing from X-Men which i've waited 18 months for is not only not going anywhere but it's being insulted.

I disagree about the money issue. TA made more money than the first 3 X-films combined which I liked better than X:FC. I understand your frustration being an X-Men fan and all but a lot of people (Myself included) really want this figure. Coulson is a very likeable character with the masses and the demand for him paid off.

Coulson has appear in 4 marvel movies, two marvel shorts AND is headlining a new ABC network primetime Marvel Show produced and written and run by Joss Whedon, he of 2 billion dollar box office success. PLUS its a fan favorite character that was well acted and funny. Colby Smuthers? She was laughably bad. The only actor that was wooden in the avengers.

LOL! I get it! And we're in the same boat!!! :wink1: :love :naughty

I'm ecstatic about Coulson getting a figure release, being an avowed Coulson fangirl, and Clark Gregg is just so damned *cute* with his Twitter fanboying, And I'm very excited about the S.H.I.E.L.D. series :blissy But I'm not sure I can blame Colbie for Maria Hill being such a stick - I don't think she was given enough material to really work with, at least that ended up on screen. Anyway, I'm so happy I'm getting my favorite that I can't begrudge anybody their own :)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

Mmmmm...colbie.....i might buy just to kitbash, but I am such a clark gregg fan..

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

I ****ing HATE realistic humans. Even something as removed from normal as the various Avengers just aren't my thing. I don't begrudge those that do like them, I just don't see the appeal.

That said there's a very small handful of realistic humans I'd buy. A really good Alice from RE3. Gary Oldman from just about anything (although I didn't get the Gordon exclusive, hoping for a trench coated version), Coulson… and that's about it. Oh and Bowie as Ziggy Stardust but that ain't never happening ever. So I'm super happy for this as it fills one of my few niche interests in the sort of stuff Hot Toys makes.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

Maria Hill is a terrible unlikable character in the comics too. Of course she would be one dimensional and very forgettable in the Avengers film. It's hard to even think of her as having any form of major role in that film. If you didn't already know she was an actual character in comics you wouldn't have thought she was anything more than a generic captain.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

I can kind of agree her character wasn't really necessary. Between Coulson and Black Widow you already had her character's role of Fury's second very well covered. Maybe if it had been a SHIELD film it would make more sense. I don't know if she's going to be in the SHIELD series but I'd be surprised. Isn't How I Met Your Mother still on? I can't see her having two major TV roles at the same time.

How I Met Your Mother, in all likelihood, will end this season, leaving her open to doing the S.H.I.E.L.D. series.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

Well I just checked and she's not on the official cast list. I wouldn't mind seeing her show up later in the series if it goes on for awhile. I am very much looking forward to it. I want more of Coulson being a bad ass as he is in the "On The Way…" short.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson

Seriously, how cool is it that Clark Gregg got to post the photos first himself? Has that ever happened? He must have been totally nerding out.

:exactly: I love that fact that he was into it!

I'll have to get this, sculpt is fantastic, and he'll be my only 'Man in a suit' figure.
